Prime Video might not pump out new releases as fast as Netflix, but that actually makes it easier to spot the fresh titles that do land. Sometimes the streamer adds movies you might have missed during the week, giving you the chance to discover a new favorite. But of course, choosing what to watch over the weekend can still feel overwhelming even when all of the options are there.

If you’re looking for a quick guide to what’s new on Prime Video this December 2025, you’re in the right place. This week’s top picks include an original Christmas comedy, an action flick starring Brad Pitt, and one of the most overlooked thrillers of 2025.

‘Oh. What. Fun.’

Prime Video is joining the festive fun this month with its latest Christmas original, “Oh. What. Fun.” Clearly, the streamer had a lot riding on this one because not only did they release the first trailer six months ago in May (when everyone was focused on enjoying summer), but it’s also basically their only “big” Christmas movie this year. The build-up seems to have paid off though, as it’s already claimed the No. 1 spot.

Claire Clauster (Michelle Pfeiffer) is the matriarch who spends every holiday turning her home into the ultimate festive wonderland. This year, after scheduling a special outing for her family, Claire is unexpectedly left behind when everyone heads out without realizing she isn’t coming. Feeling undervalued and fed up, she decides to ditch the seasonal chaos and go on an unexpected solo adventure. As her family scrambles to find her and salvage their holiday plans, Claire instead finds a new kind of celebration.

‘Bullet Train’

An action movie starring Brad Pitt sounds like a recipe for success on its own. Throw in some genuinely hilarious comedy and a fun supporting cast, and you’ve basically got the perfect weekend flick. “Bullet Train” is ideal for anyone seeking something easy to watch, with plenty of adrenaline-fueled fighting sequences that derail any sign of boredom entirely. That is, as long as you can tolerate a slightly convoluted plot amidst all the chaos.

Ex‑assassin “Ladybug” (Pitt) is given what seems like an easy gig: board a high‑speed Japanese train leaving Tokyo, grab a briefcase, and get off. But the plan goes off the rails fast. What Ladybug doesn’t know is that the train is crawling with other killers, each with their own dangerous missions and conflicting agendas. As the journey hurtles toward Kyoto, the train becomes a chaotic battleground of fists and bullets.

‘The Phoenician Scheme’

2025 has been the year for thrillers, and with so many available to stream, it’s easy to miss a few. Case in point: “The Phoenician Scheme,” a black-comedy thriller that hit theaters back in May. It ended up performing poorly due to limited marketing and stiff competition since several other movies, including the new “Karate Kid” and the horror “Bring Her Back,” were released on the same day. Its arrival on one of the biggest streaming services could finally give it the success it deserves.

In 1950s‑era Europe, wealthy industrialist and arms‑dealer Anatole Zsa‑Zsa Korda (Benicio del Toro) survives what appears to be yet another assassination attempt. Barely alive after the crash, he summons his only daughter, Liesl Korda (Mia Threapleton), a nun about to take her final vows, and names her heir to his sprawling business empire. With Liesl and her scholarly tutor Björn Lund (Michael Cera) in tow, Korda sets out to launch his grand infrastructure project — the ambitious “Phoenician Scheme” — meant to reshape a desert land with canals, dams, and railways.
