Netflix is about to lose these 3 must-watch thriller movies — stream them this weekend before you regret missing out
Netflix has confirmed these thrillers are being removed from its library very soon
Netflix typically kicks off a new month by adding a bunch of new movies, but these latest additions come at the expense of some old favorites, which are removed to make room. February 2026 will be no different. On the first of the month, Netflix will welcome a bunch of new content, but also remove some great watches.
I’ve combed through the confirmed list of movies leaving Netflix on Sunday, Feb. 1, and while it’s perhaps not the strongest selection of films (I don’t think many will be sad to see the terrible 2023 horror film “Tarot” on the chopping block), there are a handful of exciting thrillers waving goodbye. I've picked a trio of these, including my personal pick for the best movie of the past decade.
Fortunately, you haven’t missed the boat quite yet, but the ship is preparing to set sail. So, before it’s too late and you are left with only regrets for not streaming these films sooner, here are the three thriller movies about to leave Netflix that you should make time to watch this weekend.
‘Parasite’ (2019)
If you only watch one movie on Netflix this weekend, make it “Parasite.” This Oscar-winning masterpiece was my pick for the greatest movie of the past decade, and that opinion appears unlikely to change anytime soon. It’s quite simply phenomenal in every single aspect. I can't find any faults. From its impeccable pacing and riveting narrative, to its incredible performance, stunning cinematography and masterful conclusion, this movie has it all.
In all my praise above, I’ve not even touched on the biting social commentary, exploring the class divide in a way that really cuts to the bone. The Korean thriller centers on two families: the Kims and the Parks. The former are barely keeping a (leaky) roof over their heads, but seize the opportunity to change their fortunes when their son gets a job working for the wealthy Park family.
My advice: watch it as unspoiled as possible for the best viewing experience. I'd even recommend skipping the trailer.

‘28 Days Later’ (2002)
With the excellent “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple” currently in theaters (though, based on its poor box office returns, it may not be for much longer), now is a great time to return to where the rage virus originated in “28 Days Later.” Much as I love the latest slice of this zombie-infected world, the original remains unmatched. To this day, its visceral direction from Danny Boyle, iconic score, and chilling story are supremely effective.
After a group of well-meaning but misguided animal rights activists free a group of chimpanzees infected with a contagious virus, Great Britain quickly becomes a post-apocalyptic wasteland in less than a month. Awakening from a coma 28 days after the initial spread, courier Jim (Cillian Murphy) wanders into this terrifying new world. Joining up with a group of survivors, they attempt to find a safe haven while avoiding infected hordes.

‘What Lies Beneath’ (2000)
We’re approaching guilty pleasure territory with this one. To be upfront, “What Lies Beneath” does not have great reviews, scoring a weak 49% on Rotten Tomatoes. But I can’t completely condemn a movie directed by Robert Zemeckis, and starring a great combo of Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer. It’s a compelling movie about hidden secrets with a supernatural twist, adding an extra edge of excitement.
Norman (Ford) and Claire (Pfeiffer) are a husband and wife whose relationship is tested when their daughter leaves for college, and Claire begins to hear mysterious voices and see frightening glimpses of a mysterious woman. Norman dismisses her fears, suggesting they are merely delusions. But as Claire investigates further, she discovers secrets that were thought to be long-buried, and a horrible truth is soon revealed.
