It’s set to be a pretty busy week for new movies across the best streaming services. The biggest platforms, including Netflix, Prime Video and HBO Max, have new flicks for subscribers to enjoy, and there are a few fresh-from-the-theater blockbuster picks on premium platforms as well.
Comedy fans won’t want to miss the PVOD premiere of the very meta “Anaconda,” an overlooked movie that my colleague, Malcolm McMillan, labeled “the funniest movie of 2025.” Meanwhile, Netflix has a critically acclaimed drama, “Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight,” and HBO Max has an Oscar-nominee, in which Rose Byrne gives the best performance of her career. Oh, and Prime Video has a new action-comedy original as well.
Below, I’m rounding up the most noteworthy new releases arriving across streaming services over the next seven days. So, if you want to stream a new movie, you’ve come to the right place. Also, make time to check out our guide to the top new TV shows this week, if you’re in the mood for some binge-watching while sitting out the storm.
‘Greenland 2: Migration’ (PVOD)
One of 2026’s first theatrical releases is already swapping the big screen for at-home streaming this week, and it’s a great pick if you’re looking for some excitement. This action-thriller sequel once again sees Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin play survivors of a devastating interstellar comet, but while the first “Greenland” was all about finding a way to survive the end of the earth, “Greenland 2: Migration” focuses on what comes afterwards.
Set five years after its predecessor, in “Greenland 2,” John Garrity (Butler) and his family have survived the planetary devastation in an underground bunker, but when this protected haven is destroyed, John and his family must venture to the ruined surface in search of a new place to call home in a shattered world. If you want to catch up on the first “Greenland” before diving into the sequel, then it’s currently streaming on HBO Max.

‘Anaconda’ (PVOD)
The new “Anaconda” is a lot more than a creatively bankrupt rehash of the 1990s cult classic. It takes the B-movie original and puts a meta-comedy spin on the franchise. Starring Paul Rudd and Jack Black, it packs a great comedy duo, and while it’s never quite as funny as the core premise suggests, there’s still plenty of solid gags. It also serves as a successful love letter to low-rent filmmaking and playfully pokes fun at the original.

Life-long best friends Griff (Rudd) and Doug (Black) are two men stuck in a rut. Neither has achieved the success they dreamed of in their childhoods. Call it a midlife crisis, or a shot of creative inspiration, but when they decide to head into the Amazon rainforest and shoot a remake of their favorite movie, “Anaconda,” they end up in a very dangerous situation. Life starts to imitate art when a bloodthirsty, oversized snake slithers across their path.

‘The Wrecking Crew’ (Prime Video)
Last year, Prime Video found success with several “buddy” action-comedy movies, including “Heads of State” and “The Pickup.” While these were far from critical darlings, they rocketed up the streaming service’s most-watched list, and for that reason, I have a strong inkling that “The Wrecking Crew” might find similar success. It’s a buddy-cop action-comedy that teams Jason Momoa with Dave Bautista, and could offer summer blockbuster thrills in the winter cold of January.
Momoa and Bautista play half-brothers, Jonny and James, one a highly trained, very disciplined Navy SEAL, the other a wildcard cop with a habit of causing chaos. They’re not on the best of terms, but must come together when their father dies in mysterious circumstances in Hawaii. As they investigate what appears to be a murder, they uncover buried secrets that hint at a larger conspiracy, one that could tear their family apart for good.

‘Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight’ (Netflix)
Premiering at the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado back in the summer of 2024, “Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight” should pick up a larger audience now that it’s arriving as part of Netflix’s slate this week. You might not have heard of this South African drama before, but if the strong critical reception is any indication, it appears to be a movie worth having on your streaming radar. It holds an impressive 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics labeling it “a striking feature debut from writer-director Embeth Davidtz.”
Based on Alexandra Fuller’s memoir, which chronicles her experience during the Rhodesian Bush War, the movie follows eight-year-old Bobo (Lexi Venter), who lives with her family on a Rhodesian farm. The final stage of the conflict is the backdrop, and “Don’t Let’s Go the Dogs Tonight” explores this tumultuous period in history through the eyes of a child.

‘If I Had Legs I’d Kick You’ (HBO Max)
The Oscar 2026 nominations were revealed last week, and among the performances being honored at the upcoming glitzy ceremony is Rose Byrne for her work in A24’s “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.” Byrne has been ranked as a real contender for the Best Actress prize (though Jessie Buckley remains the overall favorite for her turn in “Hamnet”), and her work in this psychological comedy-drama has been described as “the best of her career.” If you want to catch up on all the awards movies ahead of the Oscars in March, “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You’s” HBO Max release is well timed.
Linda (Byrne) is a psychotherapist who is reaching a breaking point. Caring for her daughter, who is suffering from a pediatric feeding disorder, dealing with an absent husband (Christian Slater), a missing persons case and fractured relationships with her patients and therapist, Linda’s plate isn’t just full, it’s positively overflowing. Surely, something has got to give soon?
