Changing internet providers is often a conundrum that most Aussies don't want to deal with. It's not the most exhilarating task, and it can be rather time-consuming to find a great internet deal worth your dosh. But fret not, dear friends, I'm here to help.

As Tom's Guide's resident broadband extraordinaire, I collate monthly data to find the best NBN deals and best wireless internet plans for most types of Aussie households. My picks are largely dependent on a few key factors: speed tiers, connection types and attractive pricing, particularly introductory outlays and low ongoing monthly fees. Not to mention, I often peruse and include findings from user reviews, typical evening speed (TES) claims and of course, quarterly broadband data reports, courtesy of the ACCC.

Best NBN deals in February 2026

Kogan | NBN 500 plan | AU$74.90p/m

Kogan | NBN 500 plan | AU$74.90p/m (for 12 months, then AU$85.90p/m)

Kogan’s Gold Plus Unlimited NBN 500 clocks in with evening speeds of 500Mbps and 42Mbps uploads, which is pretty typical across this newer speed tier. However, thanks to this initial discount offer, you'll save AU$11p/m over the first 12 months — or a total of AU$132 — before the price increases to AU$85.90p/m ongoing.

The plan's first-year cost of AU$898.80 is one of the cheapest available on the NBN 500 tier. But what makes it even better is that Kogan also offers an Internet Price Pledge, so if you find a better price on the same speed NBN plan (from an approved provider), the telco will give you back double the difference.

Total minimum cost: AU$74.90 | Total first year cost: AU$898.80 | Total yearly cost: AU$1,030.80

Superloop | NBN 1000 plan | AU$79p/m

Superloop | NBN 1000 plan | AU$79p/m (for 6 months, then AU$109p/m)

Right now, Superloop's gigabit plan has been slashed by a massive AU$30p/m over the first six months, offering a nice AU$180 discount. Advertising lightning-fast speeds of 860Mbps in the busy evening hours, Superloop's speed claims are some of the fastest available on the tier, coming in just behind Flip's 900Mbps, Swoop's 890Mbps and Buddy Telco's 875Mbps.

This tasty AU$79p/m deal is one of the cheapest for NBN 1000 right now, just AU$9.50 more than Origin's half-price AU$69.50p/m NBN 1000 deal. The reason we’re recommending this Superloop plan rather than the latter is that Origin’s price skyrockets to AU$139 after its intro discount ends, making Superloop a much more suitable long-term option for those interested in the ultrafast tier.

Total minimum cost: AU$79 | Total first year cost: AU$1,128 | Total yearly cost: AU$1,308

Dodo | NBN 100 plan | AU$72.99p/m

Dodo | NBN 100 plan | AU$72.99p/m (for 12 months, then AU$92.99p/m)

Dodo has some pretty impressive deals across its NBN plans at the moment, with all receiving a rare 12-month discount.

If you've got an FTTN or FTTC address, or you're waiting to upgrade to full fibre when it becomes available in your area, my favourite pick this month is Dodo's NBN 100 plan, which sees AU$240 sliced off the first year before the price increases to AU$92.99p/m next February. Sure, the ongoing rate isn't the cheapest around, but it's hard to pass up a full year's discount on any NBN plan, let alone Dodo's.

The telco also advertises max speeds for this plan, which is more than enough to sustain multiple devices for families of four or more. If you're interested in faster speeds and already have an FTTP or HFC connection at home, Dodo's NBN 500 plan is available at the same low price.

Total minimum cost: AU$72.99 | Total first year cost: AU$875.88 | Total yearly cost: AU$1,115.88

Best 5G internet plans in February 2026

Optus | Superfast 5G plan | Uncapped speeds | AU$79p/m

Optus | Superfast 5G plan | Uncapped speeds | AU$79p/m (for 12 months, then AU$99/pm)

This Optus 5G home internet plan advertises uncapped data speeds, so while it only claims superfast 210Mbps TES, you could achieve faster if you have good coverage. Optus' Superfast 5G plan also includes a standard Netflix subscription in the price (valued at AU$20.99p/m) and includes a modem with your service. However, note that if you cancel within 36 months, you will be charged $13p/m for the modem for any time left on your plan. This makes the minimum cost of an Optus 5G home broadband plan AU$547 if you leave after one month.

Total minimum cost: AU$547 | Total first year cost: AU$948 | Total yearly cost: AU$1,188

TPG | 5G Home Broadband Premium plan | 100Mbps | AU$44.99p/m

TPG | 5G Home Broadband Premium plan | 100Mbps | AU$44.99p/m (for 6 months, then AU$64.99p/m)

TPG offers two speed tiers of 5G home internet: 50Mbps and 100Mbps. I’ve chosen the 100Mbps Premium tier as my recommended plan this month, for its higher speed and relative affordability. Similar to other telcos, TPG supplies the 5G modem-router for free, based on 36 months period of continuous service. If you cancel and don’t return the modem within that 36-month period, you’ll be subject to a non-return fee.

While TPG's offering is one of the cheapest, when it comes to 5G internet, note that it really depends on your location and whether your home is close to a 5G tower. Before signing on the dotted line, you'll need to check your eligibility using TPG's address checker and see if the coverage is available in your area – TPG owns Vodafone, and thus uses its cellular network for 5G home internet plans.

Total minimum cost: AU$44.99 | Total first year cost: AU$659.88 | Total yearly cost: AU$779.88
