Compact cameras won't win you any photography awards but they're extremely fun, especially in the summer — and my favorites are on sale for Memorial Day
Digital, film, or maybe both?
Summertime is here and I don't know about you, but I love spending sunny evenings with snacks and friends in parks. As someone who loves capturing life's candid moments, I always take a compact or film camera with me. The lighting is great, everyone is happier, and I want to immortalize the memories I make.
If you're anything like me, you either own a compact camera already or you're on the hunt for one. You're in luck, as with Memorial Day deals being in full swing, there are some killer discounts to enjoy on portable cameras — film and digital alike. As someone who reviews the best cameras for a living, I've found a few compact cam deals for you to take advantage of.
My favorite of the lot is the deal on the Fujifilm X half, which is 35% off right now at Amazon, so it's down to just $549 from its retail price of $849. This digital/film hybrid is unlike any other I've tested so far, and at this price, it's irresistible. If you want a digital-only camera, the Kodak PIXPRO C1 is down to $99 at Amazon, and film fans will love the Kodak Ektar H35N bundle available for $79.
So, what are you waiting for? Get to shoppin'!

The Fujifilm X half is an interesting camera as it’s nothing like any other camera in the brand’s lineup. It’s small and compact and it features a 17.7MP 1-inch sensor that actually takes lovely photos. You get access to Fuji’s 13 most popular film simulation recipes and filters, and the camera has a dedicated Film Camera Mode which doesn’t let you see photos until you connect it to your phone.

Film cameras can help you live in the moment as you can't see the photos (and obsess over details) until you get them developed, and the Kodak Ektar H35N is a fantastic choice. It's a half-frame camera so it takes two photos on one frame. It's highly portable too, and this bundle comes with a protective case as well as filters.
