It's the final day of Amazon's October Prime Day, meaning you've got less than 24 hours to grab a pair of Apple AirPods Max for close to their lowest-ever price.
With excellent Spatial Audio and their stunning good looks, the AirPods Max are the envy of headphone lovers everywhere. They're not cheap, though, coming in more than $100 more expensive than their nearest rivals.
Right now, though, you can still pick up the AirPods Max for $429 at Amazon. That's a hefty $120 discount from the list price, bringing the AirPods Max very close to their lowest price ever, and making them cheaper than some of their key rivals. Basically, if you've been after a pair of AirPods Max for some time, this is a Prime Day deal you do not want to miss out on.
This deal now covers five colors of the AirPods Max USB-C — Blue, Black, Orange, Purple, and Starlight — and it's the cheapest way to get Apple's most premium cans we've seen for a while. 20 hours of battery might not be as much as the competition, but the sound is incredible, and they feature one of the most intuitive control systems around in the smart dial, akin to the Apple Watch. Except, you know. It's on your ears.
The WF-1000XM6 cost $449, $20 more than the AirPods Max and their deal price. The Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones also cost $449, again, $20 more than the AirPods. Even our best headphones, the Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S3, cost more than the AirPods Max by around $50.
So we've established that this price is a great way to get some flagship headphones for less. But why should you pick up the AirPods Max? Well, you should read our full Apple AirPods Max review for a comprehensive breakdown of what makes these cans so good, first and foremost.
But in short? We love the build quality. The earcups are milled out of solid lumps of aluminum, giving the headphones their mighty premium feeling. It also makes them pretty weighty, although the well-judged clamping force and soft earpads make them feel very comfortable on your head.
Then there's the sound. They're more neutral than the competition, choosing to reveal detail and extend the soundstage rather than rattle your head with buckets of bass. The Spatial Audio with head-tracking is the best I've ever experienced, and I'm a spatial audio nay-sayer.
20 hours of battery life might not be quite up to scratch, and the "protective" suede diaper thing you get in the box is a travesty (grab one of the best cases for AirPods Max instead — you'll thank me later), but the AirPods Max are still an excellent pair of headphones. This deal price only serves to make them a whole lot more tantalizing.

Martin is a Streaming Writer at Tom’s Guide, covering all things movies and TV. If it’s in the theaters or available to stream somewhere, he’s probably watched it… especially if it has a dragon in it. Before joining the team, he was a Staff Writer at What To Watch where he wrote about a broad range of shows that stretched from "Doctor Who" and "The Witcher" to "Bridgerton" and "Love Island". When he’s not watching the next must-see movie or show, he’s probably still in front of a screen playing massive RPGs, reading, spending a fortune on TCGs, or watching the NFL.
