Sony’s headphones are some of the most popular on the market, but they can be seriously expensive. Just as an example, Sony’s latest flagship model, the WH-1000XM6, cost a hefty $449.

However, you can still get excellent Sony sound quality for less than half the price. Right now the Sony WH-1000XM4 are on sale for $198 at Amazon. At $150 off, they’ve hit their lowest price ever and they’re the Sony headphones I’d buy right now.

These might not be the newest headphones on the block, but they've got it where it counts. They earned a 4.5 star rating in our Sony WH-1000XM4 review, thanks to the game-changing ANC and very good sound quality. Their case is better than both the newer options in the family, and they're potentially more comfortable as well.

While Sony’s newer headphones ultimately won out in our Sony WH-1000XM6 vs Sony WH-1000XM4 face-off, it was an extremely close match. And right now, the XM4 headphones less than half the price of the XM6.

For starters, the Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones still sound great to this day. Our reviewer loved their wide soundstage and improved bass response, which some people will prefer over the XM6’s clarity-focused approach to audio.

The XM4s also deliver excellent active noise canceling, which is great if you want to use them on trips or during your commute. And you get an impressive 30 hours of battery life with ANC enabled, or up to 38 hours with ANC off.

On the downside, the WH-1000XM4 headphones aren’t the best for voice and video calls — they do an average job, which is fine for everyday conversations. But if you prioritize crystal-clear communication, you’ll want to spend up and get the Sony WH-1000XM6.
