2. Inside The Zalman ZM-RS6F

To recreate the 5.1 multi-channel sound field, both earpieces of the ZM-RS6F have been fitted with three transducers. The rear left and right sound effects are directed to the transducers at the rear. The transducers in the center reproduce sounds from the front right and left, with the ones at the front assuming center channel duties. These phones therefore reproduce Dolby Surround, Dolby Digital 5.1, stereo etc. in exactly the same way as a classic 5.1 speaker system.

The build quality of these phones is exemplary. The design and materials used are similar to that of headphones you will find in your local hi-fi store. The folding mechanism is also a neat and practical touch, enabling these phones to take-up noticeably less space than a conventional pair when not in use. The adjustable headband of the ZM-RS6F slides to accommodate different head sizes. This, together with the cushioned ear cups, means that these phones are very comfortable to wear. The earpieces isolate the ears very well, preventing external noises from leaking in and disturbing the audiovisual experience. As you can see from the above photo, the rear sound effects and center channel are fired through small holes.
