4. Carefully Designed Site

With all the configuration possibilities you have, you can easily orient your Profile towards a more professional look or, if you prefer, make it as off-the-wall as you like.

While all applications before (most of them were frankly a bit frivolous and distracting) were on the same page with your personal and work information, you now have different, distinct sections, which greatly facilitates navigation for your friends, depending on what stuff of yours they seek.

Perfect Information Sorting

So now you can separate the not-so-useful (like all sorts of quizzes and tests) from the more practical – for example, if you mainly use Facebook as a way to expand your network of work contacts. The design is well thought out as well; it’s easy to edit your Profile and the pages are carefully laid out. Still, at first glance, you don’t get the impression that there has been a real revolution. But as you use it, little by little you realize that navigation really is easier. Note also that you can now comment on the majority of your friends’ activities (e.g. new groups they join, their new status or their posted items).

Was It Better Before?

Our editorial staff has mixed reactions to the new Profiles. Moving from one tab to another to be able to see all your applications and photos can quickly get tiresome, even though people with highly organized minds may like the new setup. But there are sure to be those who are nostalgic for the single-page approach.

So, we’re not completely won over by the new Profile. But other changes will soon be showing up on Facebook.
