Tom's Guide Sleep Awards 2025: Best Bed Sheets
Exceptional quality sheets for year-round use, our winners will give your bed a hotel-style look and feel
Your sheets are the first layer of bedding directly in contact with your skin, impacting the feel of your bed and the quality of your rest. You might even say they're the unsung heroes of good sleep — but not anymore, because our Best Bed Sheets award is celebrating the top sheet set you can buy right now.
This year's winner is the highly impressive Coop Cotton Percale Sheet Set. Proving that high quality, luxury sheets don't need to come with bells and whistles, these natural, cotton sheets in a classic weave deliver comfort, softness that's designed to improve with every wash and consistent breathability.
Naturally, the best sheets should be paired with best mattress for your sleeping position and body type, and our Tom's Guide Sleep Awards winners include the crème de la crème of mattresses.
But we're here to talk about why the Coop Cotton Percale Sheet Set is our favorite, so read on to find out what makes these sheets better than all the rest.
Simply the Best Bed Sheets you can buy
We've tested plenty of bedding to bring you our guide to the best bed sheets 2025, so why do we rate the Coop Cotton Percale Sheet Set above all others? The ideal sheet set should to be soft, high-quality (for both the feel and lifespan), breathable but suitable for year-round use, free from any harmful chemicals and crafted using environmentally-friendly, ethical practices.
Simply put, the Coop Cotton Percale Sheet Set is exactly that. Each set comes with a flat sheet, a fitted sheet and two pillowcases (one for twin and twin XL), so the basics of your bedding are covered.
It's OEKO-TEX MADE IN GREEN Certified and made using 100% pure cotton with a single-ply yarn in a percale weave. This popular weave uses one-over, one-under pattern, which makes it lightweight, breathable and durable.

And, cotton itself is known for its softness, ability to promote airflow and for having a cool-to-touch feel.
These sheets do have a crisp, structured feel to begin with; the lead tester in our Coop Cotton Percale Sheet Set review wrote that they reminded her of a "slim-fit cotton shirt— structured and tailored," but she found they softened with every wash, as promised by the brand.
And they're smooth and chic; our tester noted that they "instantly elevated [her] bed to resemble a luxury hotel room." Part of this is down to the colors offered by Coop, this set comes in four, elegant neutral tones (cream, white, dover grey and ivory) which look great and can easily be incorporated into most bedroom styles.
Another big factor in this set picking up the Best Bed Sheets award was that we judged it suitable for year-round use. Firstly, they're great quality, and since we found them slightly cool-to-touch, fresh and comfortable, most sleepers (even those who run hot at night) will be able to use them throughout the seasons.
Granted, if you are on the extreme end of the spectrum of sleeping hot or cold, you may want a set of cozier sateen weave sheets, or those made from cooling eucalyptus, but we think the vast majority of people will enjoy the Coop Cotton Percale Sheet Set all year.
They're also machine-washable (on a cold gentle cycle) and dryer-friendly (low heat) and if your preference is for a completely smooth bed (cotton is known to wrinkle) these sheets can also be ironed on a low heat setting.
Our one issue with this sheet set is the premium price tag: it starts at $169 MSRP for a twin size. Luckily, Coop's Black Friday bedding sales have reduced this set by an incredible 50%, bringing the price of a twin down to $84.50, while a queen-size set is now just $99.50 (MSRP $199).
Coop Sleep Goods also offer great benefits including a one-year warranty, free shipping and a 100-night sleep trial. The latter means you can test out our winner and see if it lives up to your expectations.
There were other contenders for this award, like the Amazon best-selling Utopia Bedding Sheet Set, which is vastly more affordable, from $16.13 (was $21.99) on Amazon right now for a queen size. But the OEKO-TEX certified, brushed polyester microfiber just doesn't have the breathability of natural cotton, and we noticed slight fading of the color after just a few washes. You also won't get any kind of sleep trial or warranty.
Even without the current excellent discount, we feel the quality, materials, design and durability justify the price tag of the Coop Cotton Percale Sheet Set — most sleepers will be able use these sheets 365 days a year, and you'll save money in the long run by not replacing your sheets often.
Plus, you can sleep more easily knowing you're resting on sheets that are safe for your health, made ethically and are good for the environment.
