Also starring the late David Carradine as Bill, the two films lay out an hyperstylized story that spans the globe, from the U.S. to Japan, and China to Mexico. Tarantino draws influence from classic martial arts and samurai movies, while injecting his trademark blend of gore and explicit language.

Clocking in at four hours and 41 minutes – including a 15-minute intermission-cum-palate-cleanser and some bonus new scenes – the definitive cut of both films is going to eat up a lot of your evening, but the chaotic ride is well worth it.

Tarantino has always stated "Kill Bill" is one movie split into two parts. They were technically brought together for the first time way back in 2004, briefly, but now his vision is available for wider consumption after screening in theaters earlier this year.

On the podcast The Church of Tarantino, the man himself discussed why his plans to release the ultimate cut of "Kill Bill" had never happened before.

"I was going to do a zillion things with Kill Bill, but then when I finished it, well, that was such a hard movie. Then I was, 'OK, I'm done with that for a little while.'"
