2025 Creative Arts Emmys: 'The Pitt,' 'The Studio' and more win big
Ahead of the big Primetime Emmys ceremony next week, the Creative Arts Emmys have been handed out to high-profile titles like 'Severance,' 'Bridgerton' and more

Television fans have likely had the Primetime Emmy Awards circled on their calendars for a while now. The ceremony will air live coast-to-coast on CBS on Sunday, September 14 at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT), and will be available for streaming on Paramount Plus. (You can check out the full list of 2025 Emmy nominees here.)
But there's already cause to celebrate since the 77th Creative Arts Emmys took place this past weekend at Los Angeles' Peacock Theater. (You can stream that one on Hulu through Tuesday, October 7.)
Presented by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Creative Arts Emmys honors the best in artistic and technical achievement — important stuff like production design, casting, cinematography, lighting direction, makeup and prosthetic work and music supervision, among many others — with this year's nominee crop pulling from primetime TV programming aired between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025.
Among those honors, some of the most hotly anticipated wins of the weekend came in the guest acting categories. Bryan Cranston beat out his fellow "The Studio" co-stars Dave, Franco, Ron Howard, Anthony Mackie and Martin Scorsese — as well as "The Bear's" Jon Bernthal — to take home the trophy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. On the dramatic side of things, Shawn Hatosy won for his portrayal of Dr. Jack Abbot in HBO Max's "The Pitt."

As for actresses, Julianne Nicholson was victorious for her uproarious turn as a drug-addicted Dance Mom on "Hacks," while Merritt Weaver added to her growing Emmy collection with a win for playing Gretchen George in "Severance" season 2. And the legendary Julie Andrews was also honored in the Outstanding Character Voiceover Performance for her lively narration of Netflix's "Bridgerton."
This year saw numerous wins for "The Traitors" across the reality TV categories (directing, cinematography, picture editing and another Emmy for host Alan Cumming), as well as the "SNL 50" special in the variety show categories (for directing, makeup, sound mixing and more). Program wins honored several Netflix titles, including "Queer Eye" for Outstanding Structured Reality Program, "Love on the Spectrum" for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program, "Arcane" for Outstanding Animated Program and "Rebel Ridge" for Best TV Movie, with HBO's getting double wins in the documentary categories, for "100 Foot Wave" and "Pee-wee as Himself."
As for the Primetime Emmys, Apple TV+'s "Severance" and HBO Max's "The Penguin" lead the nominee class with 17 nominations each, with "The Studio" at 16, "The Last of Us" and "The White Lotus" at 13 apiece, "Andor" with 11 and "Hacks" with nine.
