‘Scarpetta’
Nicole Kidman has become synonymous with mystery-driven dramas, leading several streaming originals packed with twists, including Netflix’s “The Perfect Couple” and the 2025 film “Holland” on Prime Video. Now she has returned with the new series “Scarpetta,” a gripping adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling novels, and it’s already hit No. 1 on the streaming service. If you enjoy a good mystery with classic reveals at the end of each episode, this should be on your watchlist.
“Scarpetta” follows Dr. Kay Scarpetta (Kidman), a renowned forensic pathologist, as she returns to work as Virginia’s chief medical examiner and becomes caught up in a complex murder investigation. When a new case begins to mirror one she believed was solved decades earlier, the story unfolds across two timelines (1990s and present day) revealing connections between past and current crimes. As Scarpetta pieces together forensic evidence, she works alongside law enforcement to track a killer whose methods echo the past.

‘Deadloch’
For anyone looking for a compelling mystery series that’s a little more lighthearted and less grim, “Deadloch” is the perfect choice, especially now that its second season is streaming. This Australian series, first released in 2023, was even nominated for an International Emmy for Best Comedy. Across its eight episodes, it offers suspenseful plotting, engaging character dynamics, and biting dark comedy that cleverly riffs on the murder mystery genre. And it still manages to pull off some unexpected twists.

“Deadloch” season 2 centers around detectives Dulcie Collins (Kate Box) and Eddie Redcliffe (Madeleine Sami) as they reunite in Australia’s Northern Territory to investigate the suspicious death of Eddie’s former police partner. Their case quickly shifts when human remains are discovered in the remote town of Barra Creek, drawing them into a complicated investigation involving missing backpackers, local rivalries, and a tight-knit community with secrets. The duo works to identify connections between multiple cases while uncovering new evidence.

‘Jury Duty: Company Retreat’
When “Jury Duty” hit in 2023, it seemed almost accidental. The concept was unusual: a hybrid of prank show and mockumentary, testing whether an ordinary person could sit through a fake jury trial. This second season, called “Company Retreat,” proves the premise still works, showing that as long as they continue casting good-hearted participants like Anthony, this social experiment has plenty of life and laughs ahead. Our Tom’s Guide streaming editor, Kelly Woo, even said “it's cringier, more chaotic and somehow just as charming as the original.”
Anthony is a recently hired temporary worker who thinks he’s simply helping organize a corporate retreat for a family‑owned hot sauce company called Rockin’ Grandma’s. What Anthony doesn’t know is that the entire workplace and retreat are staged, and every colleague around him is an actor playing a role. Filmed in a mockumentary style, the series captures his interactions at the company offsite, where staged events, meetings, and challenges unfold as the firm’s founder prepares to step down and control of the business becomes a key focus.
