Prime Video is going heavy on thrillers this week, and I’m here for it. I’ve been combing through the Amazon-owned platform’s May 2026 slate, and this week, fans of twist-fueled, gripping movies are certainly being well-fed. There’s a trio of excellent thrillers ahead.
This week’s new arrivals include the Prime Video premiere of “One Battle After Another,” Paul Thomas Anderson’s Oscar-dominating thriller with an all-star cast, and some of the strongest reviews of the 21st century. Already watched it? Fear not, “One Battle” is flanked by even more thrillers. There’s a deeply chilling psychological trip alongside an absorbing mystery movie.
So, if you’re looking to add a few new to Prime Video thriller movies to your watchlist this week, here are the three that should be first on your list.
Best new to Prime Video thriller movies this week
‘Missing’ (2023)
“Missing” is one of those rare sequels that surpasses its predecessor, but fear not if you haven’t seen 2018’s “Searching,” this follow-up is a standalone affair. Rather than a narrative continuation, it’s a thematic and stylistic sequel. The “gimmick” of this mystery thriller is that it’s part of the screenlife genre, which means all the events on screen are presented as a record of a computer/phone display. It’s a neat hook, and allows you to get further invested in the mystery as you watch Storm Reid’s June attempt to locate her missing mother.
When June’s mom, Grace (Nia Long), disappears while on vacation in Colombia with her new boyfriend, the 18-year-old turns cyber-sleuth when the proper authorities are hindered by international red tape. Using her computer, she scours everything from email accounts to social media profiles to figure out what happened to her mom, but her search only yields more questions.

‘Blink Twice’ (2024)
Zoë Kravitz’s steps behind the camera in “Blink Twice,” a psychological thriller that marks “The Batman” star's directorial debut. While it’s got its stumbles and largely sticks to the genre playbook, “Blink Twice” is elevated beyond the sum of its parts thanks to sterling work from protagonist Naomi Ackie and a particularly devious turn from Channing Tatum. Oh, and there’s also a very warped twist, which always helps make a thriller easier to recommend.
Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips.
Frida (Ackie) is a cocktail waitress at a swanky party where she meets charming tech tycoon Slater King (Tatum). Invited to his private island for a vacation of unparalleled luxury, Frida and her friend Jess (Alia Shawkat) initially think they’ve found paradise. But as lazy sun-soaked days slip into nights of partying, Frida can’t shake the feeling that somebody isn’t quite right. And eventually her suspicions are confirmed when dark truths surface.

‘One Battle After Another’ (2025)
Paul Thomas Anderson’s all-conquering “One Battle After Another” heads to Prime Video this week. I could fill a whole article listing its accolades (the movie’s award wins have their own Wikipedia page), but chiefly, it scooped Best Picture alongside five other Oscars, and is already a shoo-in to be ranked one of the decade’s most acclaimed movies. And it’s not overhyped either. It’s a kinetic, brilliantly paced, action-thriller with stunning performances.
Leonardo DiCaprio plays Bob Ferguson, a former revolutionary in hiding with his daughter, Willa (Chase Infiniti). Living off the grid and wrapped in paranoia, Bob’s worst fear comes true when Willa goes missing, and his past deeds catch up with him. Scrambling to locate his daughter, he must also contend with a vengeful adversary, Colonel Steven J. Lockjaw (Sean Penn). Also starring Benicio del Toro and Regina Hall, “One Battle After Another” is thrilling and funny in equal measure, and might just be Paul Thomas Anderson’s very best film.
