The abductors demand he extract a six-digit number from the mind of a quietly troubled woman, Elisabeth Burrows (Brittany Murphy), who hasn’t spoken in years. And that code is their only lead to a long-hidden priceless gem. With time running out, Conrad tries to break through Elisabeth’s silence and piece together the clues she holds inside her head.

“To Catch a Killer” is a gritty crime thriller that doesn’t quite transcend its genre tropes, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing when it remains consistently watchable. At times, the movie feels strikingly real, convincingly portraying the pressures of modern mental health struggles and media saturation.

Centered on a serial killer case, the drama hits its strongest notes when the focus is on its two leads, Shailene Woodley and Ben Mendelsohn, whose performances keep the story engaging.

Eleanor Falco (Woodley) is a Baltimore police officer who becomes involved in a high‑profile investigation after a sniper’s deadly New Year’s Eve attack leaves the city reeling.

When the FBI’s lead investigator, Geoffrey Lammark (Mendelsohn), enlists her help, Eleanor joins the federal task force to track down the elusive shooter and piece together clues from a series of brutal crimes. The team follows leads and confronts unexpected developments in hopes of identifying and apprehending the perpetrator before he strikes again.

Expertly directed by Chris Weitz and driven by another standout score from Alexandre Desplat, “Operation Finale” is an absorbing watch, offering satisfaction as a thriller and as a character-driven drama.

The movie is anchored by a compelling story and strong performances, even if it doesn’t quite reach the heights it could have. Still, it remains a highly engaging spy thriller, and its historical narrative is significant enough that the slightly extended runtime never feels burdensome.

“Operation Finale” follows a team of Israeli Mossad agents in 1960 as they track down and capture Adolf Eichmann (Ben Kingsley), a former SS officer living under an assumed name in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Oscar Isaac stars as operative Peter Malkin, who joins colleagues including Isser Harel (Lior Raz), Rafi Eitan (Nick Kroll), Zvi Aharoni (Michael Aronov) and doctor Hanna Elian (Mélanie Laurent) in confirming Eichmann’s identity. The team must work to secretly apprehend him and prepare to transport him to Israel so he can stand trial for his crimes.
