I ditched all my streaming services and got a Blu-ray player — here's 24 Blu-ray deals I'm shopping this Black Friday

A few weeks ago, I decided I'd finally had enough of scrolling through Netflix. I'd sometimes scroll for what felt like hours, only to find nothing I wanted to watch... before inevitably rewatching The Office for the I-don't-know-th time.

Too much choice is sometimes a bad thing, and I know I'm not alone in thinking that. So, I decided to go old school and get a Sony Blu-ray player. The plan was to mimic a friend of mine (hi George!) and have a small rotating roster of Blu-rays. Instead of endless options, I decided I would curate my own list of four to five movies, and a few box sets of series. When I've watched them, the plan is to sell the disks and make some money back.

And y'know what? I much prefer this life. It's been really fulfilling and extremely nostalgic (very reminiscent of Blockbuster trips) going to the store to pick out interesting movies. And much easier to find them, too — especially classics, indie movies and obscure titles.

If you are still streaming, check out our live coverage of the best Black Friday streaming deals.
