Amazon's October Prime Day deals have arrived, and there are some decent discounts to be had on rugged camera gear. As both Tom's Guide's reviews editor and cameras editor, I spend my days testing out the best action cameras and best 360 cameras around, putting them through their paces in our expert reviews.
There are lot of discounts advertised, but not all are good deals, as manufacturers sometimes hike prices before these events to make deals seem more attractive. So how do you know which deals are actually worth it? Don't worry: I'm here to tell you.
Thankfully, there are some great offers out there today, like this deal on the DJI Osmo Action 5, which is currently $70 off at Amazon.
And there are more where that came from. Read on to see my favorite October Prime Day action camera deals.

The DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro is my favorite action camera right now. It was already the best value for money cam out there before this deal! It packs 4K/60fps, pro recording features (D-Log, 10-bit color), excellent stablization, best-in-class 65-foot waterproofing, strong battery life and seamless integration with other cameras in the DJI ecosystem. It's perfect for virtually any type of high-octane content creation or vlogging. At $70 off, this is my top pick of all the deals in October Prime Day.

It may be an older camera, having launched in 2023, but the DJI Osmo Action 4 is still an ideal camera for high-octane content creation. It's incredibly rugged and waterproof down to 59 feet. It'll also shoot 4K/60p and packs some pro recording features like D-Log and 10-bit color. The Osmo Action 5 Pro offers stronger stabilization, so if you can stretch to that camera, I would advise doing that. However, for $229 the OA4 is still a fantastic camera for the money.

In my GoPro Hero13 Black review, I awarded the camera 4.5-stars. It shoots 5.3K at up to 60fps and is waterproof to 33 feet. GoPro fitted the 13th iteration with a new lens mount that can use a variety of Lens Mods, allowing you to get creative with your optics. This isn't the cheapest we've seen this model sell for, with it dropping as low as $329 in the past, so it might be worth keeping an eye on this deal to see if prices drop any further.

I wasn't expecting to see discounts on the DJI Osmo 360 given it only launched a couple of months ago. This is quite a hefty discount, too, and a very attractive price. Expect 8K 360 footage, 4K reframing in 16:9, decent stabilization and strong internal audio. The Osmo 360 also uses the same mounting system and batteries as the OA5 Pro, so accessories are interchangeable.

The Insta360 X5 is the finest 360 camera you can buy, packing 8K 360-degree video for reframing in up to 4K. Its internal microphones are excellent, and a big reason to spend the extra money versus the DJI Osmo 360. It also features impressive battery life, while the Insta360 smartphone and desktop apps make editing and reframing 360 footage a breeze.

The Insta360 X4 has now been succeeded by the X5, and the latter is a much, much better camera thanks to its upgraded microphones and sensors. That said, the X4 is still a fantastic 360 camera which shoots in 8K, meaning up-to 4K exports in 16:9. At $319, this is an extremely attractive deal — this is a lot of camera for the money.

I won't beat around the bush: this camera cannot compete with Insta360 or DJI. I'm currently testing the Akaso 360, and it's behind the curve compared to today's 8K cameras. However, for $200, this is really as much 360 camera as you can expect. This camera shoots 5.7K 360 footage, which will allow reframed content at up to 2.7K. If you have the money, you should look at an X4 or even an older original GoPro Max. If you're super tight on funds, though, there's no arguing with the Akaso's budget price tag.
