AI is everywhere right now — but actually learning how to use it effectively is a completely different story.
That’s why I’ve become increasingly skeptical of online AI courses. Most either overwhelm you with technical jargon or recycle the same prompts you’ve already seen a hundred times on TikTok and YouTube. I had enjoyed the courses on Masterclass before, so I knew I would enjoy the AI courses, but I wasn't expecting much beyond “unlocking productivity.”
That said, I was incredibly surprised by the practicality of the AI courses on MasterCass both for beginners and power users. The ideas I learned about embracing an AI-first workflow and collaboration are ones I have implemented in my day.
Because I'm at my desk enough for work, I like that MasterClass has an app for iOS and Android. I have used it to listen and learn while taking a walk, cooking dinner or laying in bed.
Two courses in particular genuinely stood out
When you sign up for MasterClass, you get access to all the courses, which is great, but if you're like me, it's a bit overwhelming. I actually had a few going at once because I couldn't choose just one. Here are two I recommend starting with first:
- AI Strategy at Work: This course helps anyone understand how to use AI at work and make yourself indispensable. I found this course to be immediately useful.
- Revolutionize Your Workflows With AI : This course helps you learn how to put AI tools to work to boost productivity. What I liked most is that the course approaches AI like a practical assistant instead of a replacement for human intelligence.
Both courses focus on how to actually integrate AI into your day-to-day workflow without feeling overwhelmed or replaceable.
As mentioned, I've taken a lot of AI courses and one of the biggest issues I've had with many of them is that the focus too heavily on the tools themselves and not enough on the systems. Anyone can watch a 30-second video explaining how to generate an image or summarize a PDF with ChatGPT. None of that is hard anymore. But, many people are still wondering when AI is actually useful, how to how to integrate it into their workflow, how to avoid wasting time with it, where human creativity still matters most and how to use AI strategically instead of reactively.
For me, that's where these MasterClass courses feel different. Rather than pushing “AI hacks,” they focus on helping professionals think differently about work itself. And learning from experts in the industry made the course so much more appealing. As someone who covers AI tools every single day, I found that surprisingly refreshing.
Two ideas that stuck with me immediately were:
- The people who lean into AI and help organizations improve will be the most valuable.
- By integrating an AI command center into your worflow, you free up more for your own human capabilities.
One downside: you won't get a certificate at the end
Unlike a college course or a certificate program, these particular courses don't come with a certificate at the end. Although MasterClass does offer certificate courses.
You will, however, have more knowledge about how to use AI more effectively. If you are looking for a certificate to add to your resume, this course isn't it. But, if you're look for real-world knowledge that you can implement immediately into your daily workflow, than look no further.
And while a lot of AI content online either treats artificial intelligence like the greatest invention in human history or the end of civilization. This course sits in a much more realistic middle ground: AI is powerful when paired with human judgment. If you ask me, that's the sweet spot most professionals are actually looking for right now.
