Google AI offers a sizable suite of AI tools spread out across three subscription tiers: AI Plus, AI Pro and AI Ultra.
AI Pro users will be more than happy to learn that Google has increased their storage limit and done the unthinkable: not increase the price. Given the high storage demands of saving AI-generated projects, AI Pro subscribers now have much more storage to work with.
More storage, more benefits, no extra cost
Sweet news for our Google AI Pro subscribers! 🚀 We know your memories and projects need space to grow, so we’re expanding Google AI Pro’s storage offering from 2TB to 5TB — at no additional cost. Now you have a little extra room to create more with Google AI and securely store… pic.twitter.com/9RSBD4CO5lApril 1, 2026
Shimrit Ben-Yair, Google’s VP and GM of Google Photos, announced on X that Google AI Pro users will get a storage boost from 2TB to 5TB — with no price increase, staying at $19.99 per month. The upgrade covers storage across Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail.

It can now pull context from your files, emails, and the web to surface insights — essentially acting like a built-in project partner. This is available in English globally for Docs, Sheets, and Slides, and in the U.S. for Drive.
Ben-Yair also highlighted several additional AI Pro upgrades, including:
- U.S. AI Pro users will notice an even more useful version of Gemini in their Gmail that will answer your questions about anything in your inbox and proofread your messages before you hit “send”
- Auto-browsing through Chrome has been enabled thanks to an improved agentic AI experience, where the AI system works on its own to carry out tedious work on Google’s web browser (such as filling out online forms)
- Google Home Premium’s smart home security features are now available to AI Pro subscribers through the Standard plan
If you’re not already subscribed to Google AI Plus, it may be worth considering. It includes access to Gemini with higher usage limits, Veo 3.1 Fast for video generation, NotebookLM, and more AI tools.
AI Plus is the cheaper option at $7.99 per month, though it comes with 500GB of storage. AI Pro costs $19.99 with much higher storage, while the top-tier AI Ultra plan runs $249.99 and offers up to 30TB.

For most people, sticking with AI Pro — especially with the new storage upgrade — should be more than enough.
Bottom line
It’s rare to see a subscription offer more without raising the price. Credit to Google for giving AI Pro users a major storage boost at no extra cost.
