Ex-Infinity Ward Guys Join Respawn Entertainment
No surprises here, but those who have jumped ship from Infinity Ward are Respawning together.
This should come as little surprise to those who have been following the Infinity Ward/Activision saga, but several of those who have recently departed Infinity Ward are finding new employment at Respawn Entertainment, a new developer formed by former Infinity Ward bosses Jason West and Vince Zampella.
According to public count, Infinity Ward has lost 13 employees since the beginning of March. Of those 13, nine are now a part of Respawn Entertainment. They are:
- animator Mark Grigsby
- animator Paul Messerly
- designer Todd Alderman
- designer Mackey McCandlish
- programmer Rayme Vinson
- programmer Jon Shiring
- artist Chris Cherubini
- Vince Zampella
- Jason West

Oh Gee, I did not see this coming...
/sarcasm.
Good luck Respawn Entertainment. I'm waiting for your first game.
Wonder if their first game will be CoD-like with a different name.
hehe, IW died and respawned at Respawn Entertainment
I wonder if Activision will be spawn camping with lawsuits!
Let's hope they have better policies than Infinity Ward regarding dedicated servers and the rest, i.e., that they will actually listen to customers.
Best of luck to the new Respawn guys!
Only 9? Get the other 4!
It looks like those guys dropped a martydom on Infinity Ward/Activision and then respawed!
To get some publicity and get a fan base even before the first game is published, they should have a competition where people can submit their variation on the title "Modern Warfare" and then select the best title, and use that for the remake of Modern Warfare 2 - or rather, have it made the way it should have been made in the first place. That would REALLY piss off Infinity Ward/Activision!!!
I can't wait for Call of Duty 4: Office Warfare. It will include all of the higher ups from activision getting killed off in a 4 hour long story mode.

I would love to play this game.
Guess we'll see what they come up with.

As long as its not $70 with no dedicated servers.

I agree with you there!

Yeah, you should have. This was news over a week ago on Slashdot. I figured it didn't get posted on Tom's since it wasn't something sad and FUDdy about IW's employees. It turns out, they are just slow on here.
Even though I'm probably going to get voted down for this, the silly thing about how incredibly quick Respawn Entertainment is growing and how many Infinity Ward people have left to go to it really makes Activision's case more solid that the IW heads were already laying plans to defect anyway.
Good luck to all of you. I hope the best for you guys.
woot!
something better than MW2, here we come
I wanna invest and buy shares of the company, too bad it hasn't IPO'd yet
Back from the brink guys. Looking forward on your first game release. Hopefully, it's not full of EA colors and stuffs.

$49.99 for the PC version right?
Oh, only $69.99 for the collectors edition? Alright, here you go. Could I get the change in coins?

er, he did. or were you being doubly sarcastic?
Sounds like a story line for a cyber soap opera.
Dutyful Call: War of the Worlds

Double sarcasm.
I agree with you there!
I AGREE better come up with didicated servers this time or i wont be even getting a bent version
I had a sudden image of endlessly killing respawners. Good times... Good times...
Clever.
I can only imagine their first order of business would be to make a Call of Duty killer. However, it seems this conflict arose because of IW's desire to make a new IP and Activision being greedy and going back on their word.
I would be surprised if they came out with a call of duty type game. I wouldn't be surprised if they brought a game that was fun and more in line with what gamers want.
I'd like West and Zampella to win their lawsuit, but I think that is unlikely given that other devs worked on the call of duty series. This may keep Activision from releasing another modern warfare game though.

I hear the bomb has been planted.
