Sony Slashes PSP Price Down to $129.99
Cheap enough to just buy one for a bit of travel fun?
With the awesome specs of the PSP2, or the NGP, it'd be pretty foolish to buy a PSP now, right? Not if you're looking to get something on the cheap!
Sony Computer Entertainment America today announced the PSP will be dropping its price down to $129.99 starting this Sunday, February 27, 2011. In addition to the new price point, 13 new games will be added to the PSP "Greatest Hits" and $9.99 "Favorites" software collections.
"The PSP system set the standard for complete portable entertainment and continues to be the premiere destination for gamers on-the-go," said Tim Bender, Senior Vice President, Sales, SCEA. "Nearly six years after its initial launch, demand for the PSP remains strong. This new price point enables us to broaden the PSP platform to a larger group of consumers who are looking for best-in-class handheld entertainment."
The new $19.99 games are:
- Assassin's Creed Bloodlines
- DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY
- LittleBigPlanet
- METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER
- Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
- Resistance: Retribution
- Toy Story 3: The Video Game
The new Favorites titles, valued at $9.99, are:
- CRISIS CORE - FINAL FANTASY VII
- Daxter
- Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
- Killzone: Liberation
- SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs: Fire Team Bravo
- Tomb Raider Anniversary

Mmm, that'll be good for those that like to deep fry and eat their PSPs.
+1 I do love me some tempura PSPs
On a totally unrelated note, I WANT BF3 and ME3 NOW!!!!!
I would be worth it if you could reliably hack to play homebrew. Or how about including a memory card with all the best old NES, Master System, and Genesis games? I love my PSP 1000, just don't use it much. The analog stick went south and all the EBAY replacement parts are cheap clone parts that last for about a month.

Because those are owned by Nintendo, and Sega. And this is Sony.
I still ain't buyin one.
I'll stick with my PSPgo for now. I stopped using it a long itme ago, but with HEN on 6.20 OFW, its been given a new life.
For the most part, I'm fine with the $10-$20 games, but $40 for some games is just too steep.
Also, Monster Hunter is unplayable. Seems awesome and all, but the camera control is impossible.
I have the original PSP TYVM!
Off topic: It only came with a 32MB memory card, screw sony for charging $129.99 for a 2GB card when they we're released.
Go JOSHSKORN...Go,go,go...Keep it coming & coming...
Yeah joytech22...Keep it coming...
It's about time that PSP came down in price & I hope some more also...Especially since where in a economic recession...
Yeah joytech22...Keep it coming...
Sure will, well maybe.
I guess I should stop with the rants in almost everything I post.
Wow, this is good news! I'm planning to buy one as a present for my brother. Thanks SONY!
March is don't buy anything $ony on facebook . It's my opinion that if you wait till they are out of business you can get these even cheaper

they do this because they're probably closing down on selling this platform, due to the guy who sent the world all of sony's secrets for reverse engineering the platforms,
they probably fear now there will be many more hackers out there reverse engineering the psp.
I really, really wished the PSP could run a native DOS version to run the old DOS games.
It'd be great to have a portable PC with windows 3.11 or win 98se and DOS games on it!
this is news? i bought a black one for the wife @ 118.99 almost a year ago.
ProDigit10
dude, whats wrong with DOSbox for PSP?? i been using it playing old serria games for years. kinda sad tho.. since i was originally buy PSP play "PSP game", but their game line up suck so much i end up using it to play old serria / access games
I still ain't buyin one.
Agreed, I've seen consoles go cheaper in a shorter timespan. Consoles, not some lame handheld thing.
Wow new games for $10?!?
Those are good games too!
no one is interested in this thing. sony should have just given it for free with a purchase of a ps3 or something. how can an underpowered handheld defeat a powerful handheld?
