Today (July 22) we're getting our first look at Halo 5: Guardians star Agent Locke, though he's not in digital form. A newly leaked image shows off the live-action version of the new Spartan warrior as he will appear in Halo: Nightfall, a TV series that will serve as a prologue to Microsoft's highly anticipated sci-fi shooter.
Originally leaked by Variety and posted by Polygon, the image shows actor Mike Colter (Million Dollar Baby) depicting the newest soldier to join the Halo universe. Instead of rocking the bulky armor and helmet shown in the debut Halo 5: Guardians logo, Locke is seen wearing little more than a combat vest and what appears to be a dog tag.
Locke will make his live-action debut this fall with Nightfall, which will initially be exclusive to those who purchase The Master Chief Collection for Xbox One this November before hitting other platforms such as iTunes and Xbox Video. Produced by Alien alumnus Ridley Scott, Nightfall will tell Locke's origin story while setting the stage for next year's Halo 5: Guardians.
Just a week ago, Microsoft axed its Xbox Entertainment division as part of a sweeping series of company-wide layoffs. While this means that shows based on top game franchises such as Gears of War and Fable might never see the light of day, Xbox lead Phil Spencer confirmed that both Nightfall and an upcoming standalone Halo TV series are both still slated to hit your big screen.
If you're eager to follow the journey of Agent Locke or are just hankering for some Halo, you can pick up The Master Chief Collection on Nov. 11. Doing so grants you access to the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta, which will run from Dec. 27, 2014 to Jan. 17, 2015.
