Digeo Moxi Serves Multimedia in Multiple Rooms, Records HD
The Digeo Moxi combines dual digital HD TV tuners, digital video record and playback capabilities, with multi-room media delivery to assemble a digital entertainment powerhouse.
The Digeo Moxi looks just like a conventional set-top box, but inside, it’s not.
But the Moxi is more than just a multi-tuner DVR with HD record and playback capability. It works with Basic and Premium Cable channel packages, and its remote lets you manage your total viewing and recording activities. The Moxi is also able to coordinate and collect media from network-connected PCs, so that you can view images or listen to music from those machines in any room where a Moxi box can coordinate and control viewing or playback. You can even play games or CDs and DVDs through this device, and construct your preferred TV recording schedule on the Web. The Moxi offers a streamlined design that helps keep down equipment clutter in your entertainment center. Instead of a separate cable box, DVD/CD player, and DVR, you can serve all of these functions from a single, small, and stylish enclosure. For other rooms, the Moxi Mate provides the ability to connect and coordinate with the Moxi base station. Pricing and availability on the Moxi have yet to be announced, but demo units are abounding here at CES 2008 in Las Vegas, and deliver a compelling experience to those hardy enough to sit through the Digeo demonstrations. We’re curious to learn how much this unit and the companion Moxi mate will cost, and we hope it’s no budget-buster. Certainly, the product is both appealing and capable enough to keep an eye on as the company progresses from beta to release versions. Stay tuned to the Digeo site for more information.
