In case you might be thinking that the live view rear display is now the only way to compose images, Canon wants to be sure you understand that the 1Ds Mark III has a superb SLR viewfinder. In fact the company says that the live view display is best for taking pictures when the camera is on a tripod.

The viewfinder of the 1Ds Mark III has been improved. Canon claims that it is bright and clear with zero distortion, 100 percent picture coverage and a magnification factor of .75x. All of these factors making both images and viewfinder data easier to see and work with. Canon also says that this is the finest viewfinder ever placed in an EOS camera.
