Tron Legacy HD Trailer Makes You Want More

Don't let the "Disney" tag fool you: the original Tron movie is an all-time sci-fi classic. The upcoming sequel, Tron Legacy, is set to hit theaters on December 17, 2010, and carries on the original story, focusing on Kevin Flynn's 27-year-old son, Sam Flynn.

Naturally, Sam's search for his missing father eventually pulls him into the virtual world that also took his father 25 years ago. Thankfully, Jeff Bridges returns to his role as the elder Flynn, making this sequel feel more authentic.

The new trailer looks stunning, however the virtual world looks too solid to be artificial, taking its cue from The Matrix trilogy and lacking the glows and hues that made the original's environment so interesting.

Then again, this sequel is filmed in 3D, so the new installment could make the original Tron movie look like an old Mickey Mouse cartoon. There's also the fact that the cyber universe has improved and expanded. Perhaps that means sharper visuals for all of its inhabitants.

It may be a good thing that Tron Legacy isn't hitting theaters until December 2010--James Cameron's Avatar would have made Tron Legacy look obsolete in the box office.
