Oscar Nominees Get Free Gold Motorola Xooms
Moto is apparently handing out limited edition gold Xooms, along with special edition ‘envelope’ sleeves for safe keeping, to the nominees for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Director at this year’s Oscars.

That means Javier Bardem, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, Colin Firth, James Franco, Annette Bening, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams, Christian Bale, John Hawkes, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Geoffrey Rush, Amy Adams, Helena Bonham Carter, Melissa Leo, Hailee Steinfeld, Jacki Weaver, Darren Aronofsky, David O. Russell, Tom Hooper, David Fincher, and Joel and Ethan Cohen will all be getting free Xooms. The rest of the nominees? They’ll have to cough up the Benjamins if they want one, and it likely won’t be gold.
No word on whether they’ll be getting the $800 3G version, or the $600 WiFi version. Also no mention of how much these special editions would cost if Motorola were to release them for us plebs.

It would be hilarious if they gave them a gold Wi-Fi version
I'm sure that if any of those nominees ever wanted a tablet, they'd have an iPad or two by now. On that note, I think most of us plebs on Tom's would make better use of those Xooms.
I'll be accepting donations.
Wait, what? Dang it, wish I was nominated somehow ^_^
There goes some of their profits, these rich will not have to buy any of those gifts now since they got some for free & they're so damn expensive to buy...I will not be buying any of their products either now...
I may as well get me some apple gear instead now & enjoy...
I have a great idea! Instead of donating money to those in need, why don't we gold-plate our product and give them, free of charge, to a bunch of people who (a) are already rich and could afford it on their own; and (b) will probably never use it.
Why is there prestige associated with "being in the bag given to rich people who lay pretend for a living"?
android ftw
and what will they do with the xoom that they already dont have a person to do?
