Motorola Razr Fold hands-on: I like it more than I thought I would
Bigger displays, a striking design and powerful cameras are coming for (hopefully) much less money
No offense to the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, but the design is just too bulky to be considered a legit contender for the crown of best foldable phone. But the new Motorola Razr Fold - just announced at CES 2026 - has serious potential.
Available later this year, the Razr Fold is Motorola’s first book-style foldable phone. It features a 6.6-inch display on the outside and a large 8.1-inch screen on the inside. These panels are slightly larger than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 at 6.5 inches and 8 inches, respectively.
The 8.1-inch main display on the Razr Fold is a 2K LTPO panel that Motorola says will be a “spacious canvas for work, creativity and play.” You’ll be able to multitask with multiple apps, as well as write directly on the screen with Moto Pen stylus support. Sadly, like with other foldables, the stylus will need to be carried separately rather than stored on the phone itself.
Motorola Razr Fold vs Galaxy Z Fold 7: Pretty impressive
I put the Razr Fold side by side next to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and while it’s not quite as thin, and doesn’t feel as light, it’s pretty close. I could still see myself easily slipping this phone in a front pocket or in the inside pocket of a blazer.
The lighting in the room wasn’t great, but I’d say the crease on the display wasn’t too noticeable, and the panel is quite vibrant and colorful.
You get your pick of two colors: Blackened Blue or Lily White. The Blackened Blue option has a rougher texture in a sort of grid pattern on the back, but I actually prefer the softer touch feel of the Lily White model.
Motorola Razr Fold: The specs we know so far
So what about specs? Motorola isn’t sharing much for now, but we do have details around the Razr Fold cameras. You get a 50MP main Sony LYTIA sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide/macro and a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto.

There’s also a 32MP external selfie camera and a 20MP internal camera on the main display. You’ll also be able to record video with Dolby Vision support.
The Motorola Razr Fold will also offer on-device AI features like Catch Me Up (for summarizing your notifications) and Next Move, which gives you tailored recommendations based on what’s on your screen.
The price will be everything
Of course, I asked about the price for the Motorola Razr Fold — but I got shut down. But Motorola is known for undercutting the competition on price, just as it has with the original, clamshell-style Razr foldable.
If Motorola can price the Razr Fold aggressively enough — say in the $1,500 range as opposed to the $2,000 for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 — we could have a strong competitor in the foldable space.
