Looking for the perfect way to celebrate Pokémon’s 30th anniversary? I know what I’ll be doing on February 27 — playing Pokémon games on my Switch 2! Pokémon has been releasing titles dating all the way back to the Game Boy in 1996, but there are dozens of Pokémon games you can play on modern consoles.

As a lifelong fan, I’ve compiled every Pokémon game you can play on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 in a list below. Every game here is playable on either console, with one exception: Pokémon Pokopia, an upcoming release which is a Switch 2 exclusive.

Still not enough Pokémon for you? There are plenty more Pokémon games available to you if you have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. This subscription doesn't just get you access to online play (and online Pokémon battles with your friends!) because it also unlocks a catalogue of classic Nintendo games for you to enjoy.

Sign up to Nintendo Switch Online for $20/year and you'll get access to the following titles:

Game Boy - Pokémon Trading Card Game

Game Boy Advance - Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team

Nintendo 64 - Pokémon Snap, Pokémon Puzzle League, Pokémon Stadium, Pokémon Stadium 2

If you're playing on a Nintendo Switch 2 console, you can upgrade to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack for $49/year to get access to classic GameCube games. This includes the following Pokémon games for the Nintendo GameCube:

GameCube - Pokémon Colosseum, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness

Some Pokémon games can only be bought on the Nintendo eShop, and these are as follows:

There are a bunch of Pokémon eShop games that are free to start — most of these are games you can also download and play on mobile phones.

You can also download Pokémon Home for free from the eShop; it's not a game, but a tool to store and transfer Pokémon between games and consoles.
