Prime Video is one of the better streaming services for movies. The platform offers a sizeable library of films that is always being refreshed. It can be tricky to keep up with all the new arrivals, but the weekends are a great time to dive into what’s just been added.

Granted, the past few days have been lighter on new movies on Prime Video, but the platform did drop a new action-thriller original. This breezy effort sees a group of young ballet dancers square off against a gang of criminals (yes, that’s the actual plot). And that’s not the only fresh addition worthy of your precious streaming time on Prime Video this weekend, either.

I’ve combed through Prime Video’s movie library to pick out a trio of flicks that won’t waste your weekend. Give these movies a watch before the new working week begins.

'Pretty Lethal' (2026)

Prime Video’s latest original movie is a fast-paced action-thriller that stars a group of ballet dancers. It’s light on plot and compelling characters, but worth watching for one inventive mid-movie action sequence alone. It also boasts Uma Thurman as a particularly menacing mob boss, a role she nails. Even if the lack of substance makes “Pretty Lethal” rather forgettable, it runs barely 80 minutes long, making it a great quick watch this weekend.

The movie centers on a dysfunctional group of young ballet dancers who take shelter in a seedy establishment after their bus breaks down on the way to a prestigious competition. They’re forced to put their personal squabbles aside when a violent turf war breaks out, and they’re pitted against some ruthless gangsters. It proves you can kick butt in ballet shoes. “Pretty Lethal” is enjoyable, but it’s not going to rank as one of 2026’s most memorable movies.

'Roofman' (2025)

“Roofman” is a stranger-than-fiction crime comedy based on an outrageous true story. Jeffrey Manchester (Channing Tatum) is a small-town crook, notorious for robbing dozens of local fast food restaurants. After being caught and sent to prison, he stages a breakout and seeks a place to lay low from the circling authorities. He hides out in a nearby Toys “R” Us, living undetected for months while planning his next move. But things get even more complicated when he falls for a divorced mom (Kirsten Dunst) who works in the toy store.

The budding relationship between Tatum’s Jeffrey Manchester and Dunst’s Leigh Wainscott is “Roofman’s” biggest strength, and there’s also serious novelty in the fact that its core premise actually happened (with a few details changed for cinematic effect, of course). It perhaps overstays its welcome, with the first half definitely the more engaging, but still, there’s a lot to like about this one, not least of which is Tatum’s strong leading performance.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019)

I’m stretching the word “new” here as “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” has been on Prime Video for a few weeks now, but it remains a great pick if you want a movie that’ll make you feel all warm and fuzzy.

Tom Hanks as Mr. Rogers is utterly perfect casting. The beloved television presenter, who taught multiple generations how to be kind, is revered by millions, and Hanks does the man justice. The movie around this strong performance is a little less noteworthy, but Hanks as Fred Rogers is pretty much all you need to watch until the end.

The setup is simple: Lloyd Vogel (Matthew Rhys) is a cynical journalist, assigned to profile Mr. Rogers. He approaches this task with an eagerness to prove that Mr. Rogers’ unwavering good nature is an act. However, the presenter's empathy, kindness, and decency soon prompt Vogel to reconsider his stance, and the two form a real friendship.
