A new month has arrived, and with it comes a fresh batch of movies on Paramount Plus to add to your watchlist. I’ve combed through everything new on Paramount Plus this December 2025 and picked out the best films that you can start streaming right now.

Like most of the best streaming services, Paramount Plus adds plenty of new titles every month, which can make scrolling through the full list a bit overwhelming. To make it easier, I focused only on movies with a 90% or higher rating on Rotten Tomatoes. While a high critic score doesn’t guarantee you’ll love a movie, it’s usually a solid sign of quality.

‘Fargo’ (1996)

Many movie lovers consider “Fargo” the Coen brothers’ greatest achievement, and it’s easy to see why, with its gripping story, strong performances and unforgettable ending. Its charm comes from making the keepers of the law just as compelling (and often just as funny) as the criminals. If you haven’t seen this classic yet, now is the perfect time to add it to your watchlist.

In wintry Minnesota, car salesman Jerry Lundegaard (William H. Macy) is deeply in debt and desperate for cash, so he devises a plan to have his own wife kidnapped and hold her for ransom from her wealthy father. To pull it off, he hires two small‑time criminals, Carl Showalter (Steve Buscemi) and Gaear Grimsrud (Peter Stormare), promising them a cut. But things go disastrously wrong when a routine car stop explodes into violence, claiming the lives of a state trooper and two innocent people.

‘Gone Baby Gone’ (2007)

As an actor, Ben Affleck can sometimes feel understated, but his work behind the camera shows a keen eye and impressive capability. “Gone Baby Gone” may be underrated within the crime thriller genre and one of Affleck’s lesser-known projects, yet it still managed to make a strong statement. Even from the very beginning, the movie offers chilling glimpses of human behavior, unfolding like a thriller that could have been lifted straight from today’s headlines.

“Gone Baby Gone” centers around the disappearance of 4‑year-old Amanda McCready. Her distraught aunt and uncle hire private investigators Patrick Kenzie (Casey Affleck) and Angie Gennaro (Michelle Monaghan) to find her, believing police efforts alone won’t cut it. As Patrick and Angie investigate, they discover that Amanda’s mother is involved with drugs and criminal activity, pulling them deeper into Boston’s shadowy underworld.

‘Goodfellas’ (1990)

Since“Goodfellas” is set mainly in the 1960s and ’70s, it doesn’t feel like a typical ’90s movie. Still, it’s unmistakably a product of its era, arriving before “The Sopranos” reshaped TV at the decade’s close. At the time, Scorsese’s movie defined the mob genre, even managing to rival “The Godfather” with its tight pacing and self-contained narrative. It still remains one of Martin Scorsese’s most remarkable achievements on screen.

“Goodfellas” follows Henry Hill (Ray Liotta), a kid from a working‑class neighborhood in Brooklyn, who becomes enchanted with the criminal world from his teenage years onward. He starts out doing small jobs for a local mob crew led by Paulie Cicero (Paul Sorvino), then moves up the ranks alongside his friends Jimmy Conway (Robert De Niro) and Tommy DeVito (Joe Pesci), engaging in thefts, hijackings, and robberies. Henry marries Karen Hill (Lorraine Bracco), and his life becomes one of wealth, parties, and privilege under the mob’s protection. But as time goes on, he dives into drug dealing (against orders) and things start to unravel.

‘American Hustle’ (2013)

If you’re after a Hollywood flick packed with star power, “American Hustle” is the one to watch this month. Even if the plot doesn’t fully click, watching such a talented ensemble play off one another is pure entertainment, and the period setting is impressively detailed. The movie also made a big splash during awards season, earning 10 nominations at the 86th Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.

In 1978, small-time con artist Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale) and his smooth-talking partner Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) run scams using fake identities to fleece clients. Their operation draws the attention of ambitious FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper), who catches them red-handed. But instead of going to jail, Irving and Sydney are given an unusual offer: Help the bureau take down a ring of corrupt politicians and mob-connected power players. With the sting heating up, their paths cross with Mayor Carmine Polito (Jeremy Renner), organized crime figures, and very dangerous deals.

Returning to the role that won him a Tony on Broadway, Denzel Washington both directs and stars in this movie adaptation of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play. With such celebrated material and a Hollywood powerhouse leading both in front of and behind the camera, it’s no surprise that “Fences” received Oscar nominations across nearly every major category, including Best Picture.

Troy Maxson (Washington) works as a garbage collector in 1950s Pittsburgh and is a former professional baseball player who never made it to the major leagues. He lives with his wife Rose (Viola Davis) and their son Cory (Jovan Adepo), while his adult son Lyons (Russell Hornsby) and his struggling brother Gabriel (Mykelti Williamson) also drift in and out of his life. Troy tries to provide for his family, but frustration and regret over his lost dreams shape the way he treats those around him.
