'The White Lotus' season 4 sets location — and it might surprise you

Move aside, “Emily in Paris” — you’re not the only high-profile France-set series whose return we’re eagerly awaiting. “The White Lotus” season 4 will officially be heading to La République, marking the show’s second return to Europe following its Sicily-stationed season 2, as reported by Deadline.

The Emmy-winning HBO anthology drama moves locations every season. The first installment took place in Maui, Hawaii; the second in Italy; while this year’s third season jetted viewers off to the islands of Thailand.

The upcoming fourth season will be set at another White Lotus resort, which is represented by real-life Four Seasons resorts worldwide. Rumor has it that the famous Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat in the French Riviera will serve as the primary filming location for the fourth season, but neither HBO nor creator Mike White has confirmed that geographical gossip.

There are two other Four Seasons hotels located in France: the Megève in the French Alps and Hotel George V in Paris, so those are potential options as well. Either of those two locales would give "The White Lotus" season 4 a very different vibe from its beach-focused predecessors — a bit of après-ski or urban romance, respectively.

That change would be in line with White’s previous comments teasing the new season: “For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular but there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels,” he told Deadline in April 2025.

But though half of the series has been Europe-based so far, White has previously revealed his ambitions to turn the critically acclaimed murder-mystery into a true global affair.

“My dream would be to hit every continent, so yeah, this is like its own continent basically," he said at Sydney’s Vivid Festival in 2023. "We kind of have to come to Australia if we keep going ... It would be so fun. Obviously, there’s a huge wealth of talent here and the beauty is inarguable, so it feels like it checks all the boxes."

As for plot details, release windows and cast news, there has been no official word from HBO or the production team, though Variety previously reported that filming was being eyed for a 2026 start.

It remains to be seen whether any former cast members from the previous three seasons will be popping up in season 4. Jennifer Coolidge, Jon Griers and Natasha Rothwell have all reprised their “The White Lotus” characters across multiple seasons of the drama.

The season 3 cast included Carrie Coon, Leslie Bibb, Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Michelle Monaghan, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola, among others, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for whether any of those vacationers dare to check in for another round of “The White Lotus” hijinks.
