It's rarely cheap to get your hands on a quality gaming laptop, especially these days. That's why it's critical to keep an eye peeled for great gaming laptop deals, and I just spotted a sweet sale over at Dell.

Right now you can get the Alienware 16 Area-51 w/ RTX 5080 for $2.799, which is $650 off the usual asking price. So while it's still going to cost you quite a bit, you're saving a hefty chunk of change up front that makes the price of this beast a lot more palatable. That's one of the best laptop deals around.

Alienware 16 Area-51 (RTX 5080): was $3,449 now $2,799 at Dell

This big, heavy Alienware Area-51 gaming laptop delivers great gaming performance thanks to its Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU, Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU, 32GB of RAM and 2TB of SSD storage. The 16-inch 1600p 240Hz display looks great to boot, and can keep pace with high-speed gaming.

This is the lowest price I've seen yet on this laptop, so you're saving nearly $700 on basically the same configuration we received to test for our Alienware 16 Area-51 review.

So you don't need to guess what kind of performance you're getting at this discounted price—you can read our review and see our test results to know exactly how well this laptop will play the latest games (spoiler: very well!)

It looks great on a desk too thanks to the elegant anodized aluminum chassis and iriddescent Liquid Teal color scheme. Like most Alienware laptops, it also sports some flashy RGB lighting as well as a cool clear Gorilla Glass window on the bottom that lets you peek inside.

Packed inside you get a speedy Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU, a powerful Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU, 32GB of DDR5 RAM and 2TB of SSD storage. That's more than enough to store and run the best PC games at great framerates with settings cranked to max, though you'll want to use Nvidia's DLSS technology where possible for best results.

You can peek inside the Area-51 via the Gorilla Glass panel on the bottom, a rare feature in gaming laptops that gives this beast a fun side. (Image credit: Tom's Guide)

And since the plentiful port array includes an HDMI 2.1 port alongside an SD card reader and USB-A and Thunderbolt 5 jacks, you can plug this beast into your 4K TV or gaming monitor and enjoy PC gaming on the big screen. If you'd prefer to game on the go, you won't be disappointed by the great colors and smooth performance of the Area-51's 16-inch (2560x1600) 240Hz display.

However, like most gaming laptops the Alienware 16 Area-51 didn't last as long as you'd hope in our battery tests. That said, we were able to eke out just over 4 hours while surfing the web on battery and almost two hours while gaming on battery, so make sure to carry the charger with you if you take this killer gaming laptop out and about.

We just reviewed this laptop a few months ago so it's fantastic to see Dell already offering such a significant discount on it. I don't know how long it will last, however, so act fast if you want one!
