iPhone OS 3.1.3 Released With Minor Fixes

- By - Source : Tom's Guide US

The latest iPhone software is here, but unlockers beware!

Although the version of the iPhone OS on display on the iPad is version 3.2, the latest update to show up is just a minor bump at 3.1.3.

According to the release notice, the update includes the following fixes:

  • Improved accuracy of reported battery level on the iPhone 3GS
  • Resolves issue where third-party apps would not launch in some cases
  • Fixes a bug which may cause an app to crash when using the Japanese Kana keyboard

As always, those who rely on jailbroken or unlocked phone functionalities should take caution when plugging their devices into iTunes.

The iPhone-Dev modding team notes that those running the original iPhone 2G models can unlock and jailbreak, but the 3G and 3GS models do not have an unlocking solution yet for the new firmware. Jailbreaking, however, is already possible on most older devices.

I don't know if it was just me, but using redsn0w to jailbreak my 3g slowed it down quite a bit. Hopefully the new jailbreaks for 3.1.3 will fix it.

No unlocking solution yet. Seems to me it will just be a matter of time.

Shadow703793 :
Correction. Apple uses BSD. (Note: There IS a difference between BSD distros and "Linux" distros).

Which is why I used the word similiar and not identical.

I still can't get itunes to pick up my iphone on win 7 x64. It keeps showing up as a camera and thats it. I've tried just about every trick I can find.

I have residual doubts that it'll ever be fixed either...

That's very surprising. My 3gs has been picked up on several 7 machines of both x86 and x64 varieties. Might be worth hassling apple over that one.

A bad connector wiped out my data when trying to update (last sync months ago). Yay! ;-(

Now it's back up and I hope having to clear the memory manually (tool or reboot) has been eliminated with the
