GoldenEye Wii Gets Golden Classic Controller Pro

- By - Source : Tom's Guide US

The man with the golden... controller?

GoldenEye is set to make a comeback on the Wii, but the way it was played back on the Nintendo 64 didn't involve any waggle remote or nunchuk attachment. To make GoldenEye on Wii feel more like the classic, you'd want the classic controller.

Activision knows this and will be bundling a special golden Classic Controller Pro with the GoldenEye 007 Classic Edition for $69.99.

"In addition to the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, GoldenEye will also support the Wii Zapper for 'point and shoot' gamers, giving players several ways to experience GoldenEye on Wii," said David Pokress, Head of Marketing for Licensed Properties, Activision Publishing. "We also couldn't pass up the opportunity to pay homage to the golden gun with the gold Classic Controller Pro, which looks cool and also gives shooter fans a familiar control scheme to use as they blast their way through the game."

Back in the day, I got the Golden N64 controller for Ocarina of Time...then used it in Goldeneye!

Never be the same as it was on the n64. The controller for it and overall experience was great.

Nice! At least they acknowledge the fact that many people don't want to play GoldenEye with the nunchuck wiimote.
Kudos to Nintendo.

Why is the trailer HD but the actual game will only be 480p?

If this is like the old game, I'm excited...so many hours of multiplayer fun.

n64 Goldeneye, must have logged 5000 hours. 15 years later same graphics. I doubt it will be as good as the original.

Graphics aren't the most important element in a game. A good story, interaction, and re-playability make a game truly great.

I have found myself playing older games more often than late for these very reasons.

I love that they have a trailer of the game in 720p when the Wii doesn't even support that. Really shows off the low-rez textures.

Sigh... someone already said what I said. My bad.

It would have been nice had they used the classic N64 controler. I loved how easy it was to use no matter what. Those days were the best that I ever had with a console.

Ya know, it doesn't take "SUPREME" graphics to make a game good. I've said it before and I'll say it again, "Another World" is a prime example of this. Great gameplay; smooth, refined animation; great sound and effects... that's all you need. This has been proof throughout gaming history. Anyway, this game actually looks pretty sweet!

I agree with the few people about the graphics.. if it is a remake then remake the game and don't rest on the 'all that matters is good game play' laurel. I know there are some differences and I'll probably buy it for nostalgic reasons, but after so long they could have updated the graphics some.

The biggest problem that I have is that Activision is making this game. I have a feeling that this will end up being another cash cow . Or this is just to get people to buy the other 007 games again hoping that it will be as good and be disappointed again.

Does the game come with the classic N64 version included? This is what I would want.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the Gamecube controller design. It's just too cramped for us with average American sized hands! I'm not 10 anymore, and I'm not japanese, so I guess I'm hosed when it comes to Nintendo's newer controller designs. Meanwhile, the N64 controller was awesome for a lot of different games (just not fighting games).

I agree even with my hands being like that of a watch maker these new controllers don't offer the room and comfort of the N64. Plus one can one hand the controller while eating ect. The Z and C buttons are awesome.

I remember this game from when I was a kid... Too bad the Wii is no good, at least in my opinion...

Does this have a release date yet? This will make me dust of the Wii to be sure - even though they took out the best Bond and put in the worst.

wait... the wii made a "real" controller? that console is crap it needs HD and come with a "real" non-motion controller. motion is a fad, a cool querk not something to build a console around. Nintendo needs an N64 with HD and not rely solely on motion.

It would've been immensely epic if instead f a classic controller it was a N64 golden controller!!!

Activision is one of the most 3rd party support thats been great for nintendo there call of duty games have been well made. and giving nintendo good games. this is not ea... mind you... your are jumping to assumptions shame on you.
