Which brings me back to the theme of today's report. Maybe it's a self-fulfilling prophecy, but the general consensus from the companies that I've spoken with seems to be to save their marketing money and buzz-building for January's Consumer Electronics show. With many networking companies looking toward the convergence of networking and home entertainment products as a key part of growing their market share, CES is the logical place to make their pitch, and it sure looks like that's the way things are heading.
All that being said, Comdex will probably still be back next year, since even a bankruptcy and change of show management (although many of the Key3Media folks are now part of MediaLive) didn't manage to kill it this year.
I'll be back tomorrow with my final report, in which I'll take off my networking guy hat and put on my general cub reporter one to tell you about the interesting non-networking stuff that I came across in my show floor wanderings.
