Sunnyvale (CA) - AMD today released their Xilleon graphics processor for large LCD-based panel digital TV displays. The processor includes logic which compensates for motion using a 120 Hz algorithm, as well as correcting for incompatible frame rates. Timed to coincide nicely with CES 2008, this processor will be present inside future large LCD digital TVs for the purposes of bringing the user a "20/20 television" experience, according to AMD.
The processors are the 410, 411, 420 and 421, and are all fully HD capable. They are designed to receive any HD input from 24 Hz to 60 Hz and upscale it to 120 Hz for display. The processors will be available in "early 2008", though no word was given on pricing or what the differences are between the models. Samsung has chosen AMD’s Xilleon processors for their large panel TVs.
