Weatherproof Battery And Storage Compartment

While the 40D doesn’t have weather seals in other water vulnerable places. It does have them in the battery-memory card compartment. If you’re going to do weatherproofing, this is the place to start. Waterlogged batteries or memory cards can fail in dramatic ways. Shorted batteries can do all sorts of damage to themselves and to a camera. Shorted memory cards can lose their contents.
