Forget Finland and its legal right to internet, I want to live in Sweden where I can get all liquored up and then mosey on down to the arcade bottle bank to recycle my empties in the coolest way possible.
TheFunTheory is an initiative from Volkswagen that promotes an idea that something as simple as fun is the easiest way to change people’s behavior for the better. In the video below they turned a regular, old bottle bank into an incredibly awesome arcade machine that turns recycling into a game.
In just one evening the bottle bank arcade machine was used by 100 people. During the same period, a normal bottle bank in the same area was used twice. Click here for information on applying for Swedish visas.

Looks fun, I want to play too
Swedes get all the fun...
yeah, sweden rocks...
and unlimited 100mbps for 25$ a month is sweet
I'm sorry this looks kind of lame.
and no it does not play crisis, so dont even ask
An interesting idea. But why not just have people put out their recycling container next to their trash? Do they not have garbage pickup in Sweden?
kudos to the Swedes! Such good sports. Wonder if this thing will work over here, with all the sour grapes losers, that thing won't last an hour.
Check out the AXE MURDERER at 00:21 haha!
Do you guys in the US have something like a bottles for cash sheme? I live in South Australia and the government pays us 10c for each bottle we take to the recycling centre (you can put them with the weekly recycling of course, but you won't get money that way).
Just wondering if we're the only ones who do that.
Very good idea! What do the points do...?
Next they'll be giving you points for every person you hit with their vehicles, GTA Mother F****!
We have a deposit system for sodas in aluminum cans and bottles. But that is all. Other stuff where you haven't paid a deposit like wine, sauces, jams, and whatsoever that is being sold in a jar or bottle made of glas is supposed to be dropped in bottle tanks or at the local recycling center.

Give me a bottle bank that plays Crysis, and then I just might...

It varies from state to state. I think 11 states have some sort of cash value for it, ranging from 5 to 10 cents. New York, Michigan, and California are the only ones I can name off the top of my head.
Funny!
Now one with pinball games or something!
It's fifty times more efficient in the number of recycled bottles and let's you play videogames for free. I wanna.
the swedes are awesome with their inventions. rewarding ppl for doing things that are good is the best way to get them to do them, obviously. Kinda like integrating games with exercise, makes it not only beneficial but entertaining.
Put one of these outside a pub and then post the video, thats a video i wanna see.
Here in the us, I would have to save my bottles, haul them to the recycling center and hop they take them. If i fill up my trunk, then i might get enough to buy the gas it took me to get there.
Or simply teach people to recycle like they did in Japan. No non-sense, just pure Japanese sensibility.
BTW, how close is the normal bottle bank to this Arcade? I think some people that used to dump at the regular place took it over to the arcade for the novelty.
pure genius. perfect way to teach ecology.

Have you seen Yokohama's recycling program?...

Sadistic would probably be a better word to describe it.
SO... high score?

And your obviously aware that in all other states in Australia (South Australia is a state, not just the south side for those who don't know) DO NOT have the same scheme as in SA?

Of that I am fully aware. Hence why we cop so much flak from the other states (besides being a backwater as well, of course
If you ever come to Adelaide (if you don't already live here), you'll sometimes see people rifling through bins to get the cans and bottles. I know it doesn't look good, but at least they're not hassling people for spare change, so no-one cares.
Also it keep the streets clean of cans and bottles and gives the bottle collectors a bit of extra money.

Yeah, but its in most states that harbor the most homeless.
and how much energy is used to run this? lol
