Verizon's 3G "Map For That" Campaign Continues
Verizon has been releasing so many commercials based on comparing Verizon's 3G coverage to AT&T's that we seem to have missed one somewhere along the way.
This advert was put out to spread the word about upcoming Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals (obviously expired at this stage) and, of course, to remind everyone how little 3G coverage AT&T supposedly offers compared to Verizon -- according to Verizon.
Yesterday AT&T released a new ad slamming Verizon's slower 3G network. The commercial showed AT&T spokesman Luke Wilson downloading two versions of himself, one on each network. Of course, the AT&T version finished first, leaving the Verizon Luke stumbling around with no head. Embedded below in case you missed it.

I like the headless version, at least I don't have to hear him talk...
If AT&T's "better 3G experience" over Verizon is Luke Wilson's talking head, I'll have to pass on that.
Verizon Football commercial pwns Headless ad.
LATE!
Yak yak yak, all they do is yak.
Quit fighting and get back to work!
It seems like a rule in advertising, those who advertise the most need to advertise the most because they can't rely on the quality of their product to sell itself. So they have to spend a ton of dough brainwashing people into thinking their awful product is great and they need to buy it.
I get 3G coverage with my 3GS Iphone 32gb just fine maxed out at a 100 mile radius all the time, Iphone haters can kiss it! Verizon is a chic and homo network, lol. They cater to both with their phone designs. So meh.
@trevorvdw: There is one other reason- to legitimize your product to a bunch of already brainwashed people (Pepsi in the 80s - 90s). I'm not an apple hater but there are a bunch of people who would buy a turd in a box if it had an apple logo on it. Verizon's commercials have a purpose- to point out to the already brainwashed masses that while the iPhone is cool- AT&T sucks. AT&T on the other hand is doing exactly what you pointed out.
Actually I think the Droid appeals to straight males who like tech far more than the Iphone, which is an apple product. Apple is the "I know nothing about tech I'm a chick/metrosexual male brand" BTW
god verizon "Map for that" is beginning to become like "Hi i'm a mac, and i'm a pc" ads - its lame and boring.
@Luke Wilson ad
If you assume that both 'downloads' are at a constant rate and both started from the bottom at the same time, which I'm sure is the point, then it is technically impossible for those 2 downloads to be at the same place when the ad starts. The Verizon side would barely be at Wilson's knees by the time the AT&T side finished.
Bad science is bad.

Your mother is lame and boring

Funny how I didn't name any company but people assumed I was talking about Verizon. Makes you think.
Anyone else notice on the headless commercial that the AT&T guy already had a lead on the Verizon one when the commercial started?

I think you are confused, Verizon doesn't have the iPhone...

Win.
Your mother is lame and boring
It must just be you - she was quite lively when we were there. NAS-TAY.
Fast doesn't mean shit when your service is ranked lowest in the country.
I have a phone on At&T and a Verizon phone. I fly all over the country and BY FAR AT&T service is clearly inferior for me....maybe not for you.
I just want the best service at the best price, and BTW I think the Verizon ads are funny but the At&T come up short. Hopefully AT&T will do something to better their network.
again. speed, if you can get a connection. i'd rather have slightly slower everywhere then slightly faster in a few spots.
The iPhone appeals to people who just want a product that works. I have had many WM phones that were ok to play with but worthless if you want to get something done or use it as a phone. Apple's main feature is that it works reliably and quickly. Quality will always get my money no matter who makes it.

As for service AT&T has always been the best in my area, NW Missouri. Verizon even pulled their store out of our town of 100,000 because they said their service wasn't that good and there wasn't enough demand.

At least Verizon admits there service is bad in your area and pulled out. In NYC, a place you'd expect AT&T to you know, work, a rep told me that 30% dropped call rate and a dl rate of 26kbps was normal for my area ...
right...and don't gimme that there's a limitation to wireless bandwith BS. Hong Kong and all of Japan manage to give ~1.2mbps dl rate, a
Tom's cut em off >.< want to buy edit button!
Anyway, Hong Kong and Japan have more users, a higher concentration of ppl, and ppl who use their phones more often and still manage almost 0 dropped calls and a ~1.2mbps dl rate.
If the damn Chinese can do it, no excuse AT&T can't.
