The previously-rumored price cut for the Nintendo Wii looks to be a sure shot for this coming Friday.
Previous reports fingered the 27th for the price drop and while that date seems to be sticking when it comes to leaked fliers, Engadget cites a Best Buy screen shot that shows Nintendo will be making the all important announcement this Friday, September 25.
Those of you worrying about whether or not supplies will last (you know, in case there's some kind of Wii riot) needn't bother. The Best Buy memo goes on to say inventory looks good and adds that stores are receiving extra shipments.
$199 Wii, anyone?

That's not a bad price. I have been waiting for a price drop to buy one..
About damn time. Drop the DS while your at it....
they won't drop the price of the DS. they just released the new version of it just a few months ago
I just got one from Gamestop last week for $250
Curse my impulsiveness.
About damn time.
Three words that are way overdue....
Is print screen too hard of a concept for people at engadget?
The $199 price tag does look sweet though.
I would imagine that this was a work computer, with everything logged, and Print Screen would be riskier than a camera phone.
I think they should still knock off another $30. A $170 price range is more appropriate IMO.
They should include wiifit and balance board for $199. That'd be nice.
Good price.
Still won't buy it. I don't see paying $200 for a gamecube wrapped in a new look with fancy motion controllers.
Hmmm a gamecube w/ a waggle wand for $200...nah $99 thank you very much.
The Wii currently costs $280 in Canada, instead of $250, while the PS3 and 360 maintain there American pricing. I don't know if that 360 rebate applies here, but if it does it means I can get a 360 for $30 less than a Wii. Seeing as how that's absolutely ridiculous, the price drop is long overdue.
Haha just saw this at work, love the writing in bold.
I only want the Wii for Zelda...
Anyone have any other possible reasons to buy a Wii?
