LG Watch Phone to Cost Over $1,000

Official pricing for LG's wristwatch cell phone is out and folks, it's not pretty.

Just a few weeks back we talked about Samsung's foray into the wristwatch cell phone market with its super slim S9110. Measuring just 0.48 inches thick and touting Bluetooth technology, voice recognition, a 1.7-inch touchscreen display, a stainless steel body and leather strap, the S9110 costs $640. Pretty pricey for a cell phone right?

Well cheer up, it could be worse. The S9110's clunkier counterpart, LG's GD910 is said to cost over a thousand bucks. Despite the fact that it was announced first (we've been hearing about LG's watch for two years now), pricing for the device has only just been announced and it amounts to a cool €899 or $1,290.

Available from French carrier Orange this August, there's still no official word on a U.S. release, so it looks like interested parties will have to wait just a little longer to get their hands on this one. Then again, most people don't have that kind of money to drop on a cell phone so perhaps there aren't many people waiting.

Um.... pass. If I pay that much for a watch it's going to be for one that's still worth a pretty penny 100 years from now. Like an Omega or something. In 3 years this thing will be worthless.

Really when was the last time anyone paid full price for a phone (in the US)? The Palm Pre costs $800+ stand alone.

But hey, in a couple of years watch phones will be a commodity ...

I'll wait for now, until there's a decent selection on the market and decent prices ...

The girl is very cute, make sure you check out the 2nd photo of her holding the watch. Wonder if she's seeing anyone?

Oh... considering how phones get warm when used... how fun is it to have your wrist get WARM all the time. With a normal phone, you can change hands, fingers, side of your head, etc.
Not for people who never take their watches off.

I saw a tourist on a bus with this watch thingy... don't think it was and lg but was funny to see a guy talking to his watch nonetheless.

This price has to be a joke. Or maybe LG just didnt do its research.
I bought an 8gig triple band watch phone last year. MP4 playback, Mp3 playback, recorder, FM, and it came with headphone/headset for
$200
Two years ago I bought a 2gig same features for $100.

The phone I bought two years ago worked with verizon and sprint only i believe. The new one I bought works with T-mobile, sprint, att, and verioz.

The one im getting ready to buy will also support the nextel iden as well. Big plus for me since my main phone is still a sprint/nextel with. Big thing is with the new watch it has expandable memory via micro sd, and it has direct connect built in. Comes with 8gb and upgradeable to 12gb with a 4gb micro sd. Thats still only $215.

Kill themselves Twice with trying to pull one over on people.
Mp4 watches where the rave where I leave it about three years ago.
Watch phones starting popping up Two years ago around here.

Almost everyone I know has one just for kicks because there cheap
as IPOD nano's and have more features. We like to call it the new
dick tracy watch
