These $500 Glasses Simulate a 75-Inch Screen
Watch movies on your glasses.
Ever dreamed of a future where you could simply throw on a pair of trendy looking glasses and be able to comfortably watch anything you wanted to? Thanks to Vuzix' impressive new line of glasses, the Wrap 1200, this future may be getting closer and closer to the present. There are several concerns that come to mind when thinking of video-displaying glasses. For example, how exactly do you fit all of the required hardware into the minimal and small structure of glasses? How do you place screens centimeters from your eyeballs without damaging them?
Vuzix seems to have it all figured out. Inside the Wrap 1200 are a pair of small LCDs that are capable of simulating a 75-inch screen from approximately 10 feet away. With a 852 x 480 resolution, you may not be enjoying the highest quality of video but you are certainly enjoying it in style.
Capable of viewing both 2D and 3D content, the Wrap 1200 is a versatile product that doesn't forget about the comfort of the wearer. Included angle adjustments allow users to customize the distance between the screens and the eyes in order to find the highest quality if picture. The glasses come standard with integrated headphones and rechargeable batteries that are good for up to seven hours of use. Unfortunately, the only downside to the Wrap 1200 glasses is the $499.99 price tag that goes along with it.

That's awesome, but what's up with the odd resolution?
I too am curious how it connects, and if it would work for not just movies but games. This might be pretty cool for FPS and racing games! Add head tracking and we'll start getting closer to some nice VR tech.
Price is pretty steep, but if it doesn't have some retarded proprietary connection I'd still be interested.
These would be awesome if used with a flight simulator.

Let me know when they're 1080P
I'll tell ya.. My friend bought a pair of the older model and they really hurt your eyes.. Its like your sitting 10 feet away from it.. I dunno I didn't like him and neither did he.. We tried playing half life and such with them but the problem is that since they are basically glasses with LCDs in them they don't block out the light from other areas making it where your eyes can easily "wander". They need to do it like a virtual boy where they block out all light except the light that is coming from the glasses and it would probably not hurt as bad..
Let me know when they're 1080P
Let me know when the use modern connections like HDMI
It's not an odd resolution. 852*480 is the standard widescreen DVD resolution.
Sure, and simulate a true 1000 inch screen 100 yards away!
Truth is, the screen is not half a mile away, but less than 2 inches, which makes the screen you see closer to 1 inch in size!
WTB higher res, seems like a pretty cool product non the less
better resolution needed
Can they be adjusted for nearsightedness too? I'm not switching from eyeglasses to contact lenses just to use this product...
Wow, you can watch porn without anybody see you watch porn.
LoL, that wasn't the first thing which came to my mind anyway.

Too expensive and the resolution is too low as well.
Give me 1080p @ $249 or lower and I'd buy them.
Where do you plug in video inputs?
A small cord wraping behind my ear to accept an HDMI input would be sufficient.
Wow, you can watch porn without anybody see you watch porn.
But I'm pretty sure they'll still see you fap...
What ever happened to those glasses Sony was making? The ones where it actually drew the image on your retina.
That's cool and all... but ...
Can they play CRYSIS??!!!

They don't exist!
You wouldn't be able to focus on it anyway!
they're not sunglasses so i guess i should not be wearing one of these when driving
Unless you want to crash into something

Sure you would.
you know it was a long time ago that i read about 1080p oled glasses, i mean a really long time ago.
where are they?
i mean this seriously, if they make glasses that go on my head and are 1080p minimum, i will replace my desktop monitor and my tv.
they make them 1920x1200 and its guaranteed.
and when they make it wireless (besides cord to battery pack) and its a day 1 purchase
make it comfortable to ware with studio headphones, and ill pre order it at any cost.
i have been waiting on this tech for the last 15 years.
My eyes are screwed up enough; I don't need these things to make them worse.
For $500, just buy two/three 20" monitors and put it in eyefinity.

If you look under the tech specs you will notice that the 2 monitors are the same rez as these, but they will take a 720p signal and downscale it.
Still, cool tech. These would make those airplane trips less annoying
That's cool and all... but ...Can they play CRYSIS??!!!
Hell, I can't play crysis, why do I care if my computer/cell phone/wrist watch/8080 can play the stupid game?
I'm sorry but this is cool what if they could do wireless connections with HDMI and you could watch it in 1080P this would sell well then
Future of tech is nothing but amazing.

Hmmm, just noticed that. There has to be some kind of difference when viewing a resolution up close like that. Something tells me you wouldn't be able to notice the non-native resolution being displayed i.e., 1280x720 on the lower res lcd screens. Think about it, those screens are super tiny and they crammed 852 x 480 onto each one. Probably looks better than the iPhone 4's screen. Thanks for pointing that out though, this is definitely the one to get!!!
