Now you can see your favorite camjunkies in 3D!
Conferencing with your favorite pals over webcam no longer has to be a two dimensional affair. Hammacher Schlemmer is now selling what it claims to be "the only 3D Web Camera."

As with how stereoscopic vision works, the 3D webcam uses two cameras to capture video at 800 x 600 resolution at 15 frames per second, which can focus up to 12 feet away.
While we haven't yet gotten hands-on with one, we're a little disappointed that it'll be using the old-fashioned blue and red 3D glasses method (five pairs are included with the camera, and the total package runs for $100), which will alter the true colors of the image. Of course, it is probably the most economical and compatible solution.

3D Webcam stripper?
I tried some active shutter glasses during cebit and I must say its my personal favorite. Even still the local theatres at least hand out polarized glass pairs of glasses for 3d movies.
I'm definitely not spending extra money on a toy cam that is only gonna give me a headache.

That's because local theaters use either two projectors or a single, modified projector that's capable of displaying two color images simultaneously. Shutter glasses need a special monitor to work. $100 is a little steep for an anaglyph (red/blue) 3D camera and the glasses will only work for the people who see you. So for you to see your friends in 3D, they'll all need the camera too.
you should do some research. The 3d webcam was already available on Amazon since last Dec.
Camwhores, now in 3D!
@jakies. Yeah, this was in the news months ago. It's pretty funny to see this as "news" all this time later.
