This $8 hack is the secret to making my artificial Christmas tree smell real
Bring your artificial tree to life with this clever tip
When we bought our home many years ago, I was a firm advocate for having real Christmas trees. Besides looking stunning, there's nothing I love more than the fresh pine scent to bring the wintry outdoors in. But when our son was born, I switched to the artificial tree option, as it was more convenient. Not only were they more kid-friendly, cost-effective, and easy to store, but they also saved me the daily task of cleaning up pine needles from my wooden floor.
Yet, I still miss that 'forest' scent that would fragrance my entire home. That was until I came across this brilliant hack on Pinterest that will make your artificial tree smell like a real one. What's more, it's easy, cheap, and doesn't involve any toxic sprays or expensive candles to burn. I was sold.
These scented ornaments are a great way to make your artificial tree smell like real pine. It comes with six fragranced sticks and six hooks to hang onto your tree. The fragrance should last up to 30 days for those festive vibes.
Scented ornaments
'Tree scent’ ornaments are a simple yet clever trick that has now become a big favorite. Essentially, these wood reeds are infused with an evergreen fragrance and can be hung on your tree alongside your ornaments.
The pack includes six stems and hooks, and you just attach the hook to the end before hanging it on your tree. One thing I love is how these 'stems' are discreet enough to blend in with your tree decor without ruining the aesthetic. Plus, these are hassle-free and safer than scented candles, as I no longer have to worry about putting them out before bedtime.
I opted for the White Winter Fir scent, which immediately filled my room with a freshly cut evergreen smell, but there are other evergreen options to choose from.
It's worth noting that the smell will be very potent the minute you take it out, and the fragrance rubs off onto your fingers. So you might need to handle with care and crack a window or door open for adequate ventilation. But after a day, I noticed it was less strong, leaving a pleasant smell in the room.
And even if you have a real fir tree, these stems can be used for enhancing your tree's fragrance once it starts to lessen from being indoors over time. Best of all, the smell always tricks friends and family who can't even tell the difference. Win-win.
