JBL makes my favorite portable speakers — and all three of my top picks are on sale right now for Prime Day
Whether you're hosting a Fourth of July cookout, heading to the beach, or just tired of tinny phone audio, there's a JBL deal with your name on it right now
JBL has a well-earned reputation for making speakers that survive whatever summer throws at them, and there's a reason someone always seems to pull one out at a barbecue.
Right now, three of their best portable models are on sale for Prime Day, sitting at some of their lowest prices of the year, just in time for Fourth of July weekend. All three are waterproof, all three are on sale, and all three are genuinely excellent. The only question is which one makes sense for you.

JBL speaker deals
Best for: solo listening, travel, kids, or anyone who just wants something cheap and cheerful
This is a personal speaker, not a party speaker. If you're trying to fill a backyard with sound for the Fourth, it's going to struggle. But for a solo run, a hotel room, or as a gift for a kid who will inevitably drop it in something, it's a no-brainer at this price.
At under $40, the Go 4 is the kind of deal that's hard to overthink. It fits in a jacket pocket, it's waterproof and dustproof, and it genuinely punches above its weight for something this small. Battery life tops out at seven hours (with a Playtime Boost option for two more), which is plenty for a beach afternoon or a picnic. It also supports Auracast multi-speaker connection if you want to pair it with other JBL speakers down the line. Plus, it comes in nine colorways so there's something for everyone.
Best for: the person who wants serious sound without lugging a brick around
If you're only buying one speaker this Prime Day, this is probably it. The new PushLock accessory system is a nice touch too — a carabiner and loop are included in the box, so it clips straight onto a bag for a beach day or a hike.
The Flip 7 is the sweet spot of this lineup. At 37% off, you're getting JBL's new AI Sound Boost technology, which analyzes your music in real time to squeeze out maximum performance with minimal distortion. The result is noticeably richer bass and crisper highs than you'd expect from something this portable. Our reviewer called it a speaker that performs "like it was at least twice the price and twice the size", and, at $94, that's even more true now.
Battery life stretches to 16 hours (14 standard plus 2 more with Playtime Boost), and it's IP68 rated, meaning it's waterproof, dustproof, and drop-proof from up to a meter.
Best for: the host, the camper, or the person whose phone always dies first
Think of the Charge 6 as the speaker you bring when you're not just attending the party, you are the party. The removable handle strap is a small detail that makes a big difference in practice, too. This is a speaker you'll actually carry rather than shove in a bag.
At 45 watts, the Charge 6 is significantly louder than the Flip 7, and its 28-hour battery life (24 hours standard, 4 more with Playtime Boost) means it will almost certainly outlast the gathering. It also shares the same IP68 waterproof, dustproof, and drop-proof rating, and adds a built-in powerbank so you can top up your phone while the playlist keeps running.
At $159.95 it's the most expensive of the three, but for what you're getting (particularly with Fourth of July weekend coming up,) it's genuinely a good value.
