My dad has stolen my favorite floor cleaner and won’t give it back — it’s all because of this feature

Despite being in his eighties, my dad is into his tech and he loves a gadget, especially if he can talk to it. If he wasn’t retired, I think he’d be testing and reviewing smart home products for Tom’s Guide.
So, when I was testing the Tineco’s Floor One Stretch Wet and Dry Vacuum Cleaner, he was keen to have a go to see what I was making such a fuss about. It's pretty smart, and to my dad's delight, it also talks to you.
My mop will never see the light of day again
Since using Tineco’s Floor One I’ve ditched my mop and now only clean my hard floors using this vacuum. In fact, it’s transformed the way I clean my home, and I no longer have to battle with puddles of water that my poor mopping skills left behind; there’s no streaky mess of water left in my trail.
Apart from cleaning my floors with ease, it also does two jobs in one — and I’ll never dismiss an appliance that saves me time.
However, what I particularly noticed about this appliance is how it almost takes you for a walk. And when my dad first used it, the manner in which the appliance gently pulls you forward made him chuckle, too. But despite not being so steady on his feet these days, there wasn’t any chance of him being pulled over.
After using the appliance for several weeks, I gave it to my dad to try, and now I’m regretting it. I don’t think I’ll ever get it back because he’s discovered a great feature that he’s raving about.
This 3 in 1 mop, vacuum and self cleaning smart floor washer with iLoop Smart Sensor, has three cleaning modes, offers edge-to-edge cleaning and has a on-touch self-cleaning cycle. The cordless appliance offers a 35-minute runtime covering a floor area of up to 2,500 sq ft.
It works wonders in a wet room
Recently, he moved out of the family home into a bungalow and now enjoys the benefits of single-storey living. He was also fortunate enough to move into a property with a wet room. And it’s here where my dad puts the Tineco Floor One to the best use.

He already has hardwood floors throughout his home and has been using the wet and dry cleaner to vacuum and mop in one. However, he was excited to tell me that it has another use. Every morning, once he’s finished his shower, he grabs the cleaner to do a different job.
He turns the Tineco Floor One on and selects dry mode, then he uses the machine to dry his wet room floor. Instead of using it to vacuum dust and debris from his hardwood floors and wash at the same time, he switches the mode.
Safety first
The benefit for my dad is that he ends up with a dry floor, which reduces his chance of slipping. Unfortunately, I don’t have a wet room, so I can’t put it to the test in my own bathroom, but for anyone who does have the luxury of a wet room where the shower area is open and flush with the rest of the floor, using the dry mode on a wet and dry floor cleaner could be just what you need.
What’s more, apart from not having to worry about slipping on a wet floor, he doesn’t have the awkward job of dealing with a mop and bucket — all he has to do is empty the dirty water container on the appliance and then reinsert the unit.
Since my dad is having so much fun with his new gadget, I daren’t ask for it back. So for now, it looks like my dad’s got the Tineco Floor One for good.
