After "28 Years Later" returned to Danny Boyle's riveting horror franchise thrillingly, I'm sure plenty of moviegoers like myself have been eagerly awaiting "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple." Nia DaCosta's movie picks up after the events of the previous installment's madcap ending and sees Spike (Alfie Williams) inducted into Jimmy Crystal's (Jack O'Connell) gang of acrobatic killer "Jimmies," while Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) continues his work with the Infected.
Thankfully, it seems like "The Bone Temple" has certainly expanded this tale successfully and managed to live up to the expectations set last summer. Initial reviews have been very positive; at the time of writing, the sequel is sitting at 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, and it therefore seems primed to be one of the biggest movies of the first few months of 2026.
All that said, it seems like you won't want to miss "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple" in theaters, but if you'd prefer to wait until the latest entry is available to watch at home, we don't currently have a "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple" streaming date — but I've done my best to predict when the movie will come to streaming services below.
When is '28 Years Later: The Bone Temple' coming to streaming?
"28 Years Later: The Bone Temple" hit theaters on January 16, 2026, and at the time of writing, that's the only way you'll be able to see Nia DaCosta's new addition to the horror franchise.
The first place you'll be able to watch "The Bone Temple" at home will be via premium video-on-demand storefronts. We don't currently have a digital release date for "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple," but I'd guess that it'll come to PVOD platforms like Prime Video in mid-February, possibly on February 24.
That assumption is based on the fact that Sony Pictures titles are typically released digitally about a month after hitting the big screen: "28 Years Later" was available on PVOD around five weeks after release, as was the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" legacy sequel, so I'd expect "The Bone Temple" to follow a similar pattern.
As for a streaming release, while we don't have a confirmed release date just yet, we do know that Sony Pictures movies stream first on Netflix (that's where the film's predecessor, "28 Years Later," debuted last year). And by looking back at how long we typically wait for Sony's movies to come to Netflix, we can get a rough idea of when the latest watch will be streaming, too.
Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips.
Right now, I'm predicting that "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple" will be available on Netflix on or around Saturday, April 18, 2026. That estimate is based on two factors: we typically wait between 90 and 120 days for Sony's movies to arrive on Netflix, and they have usually been released on Saturdays.
Looking again at Sony's recent movies, you'll see that "Caught Stealing" and "28 Years Later" both came to Netflix 93 days after their release, while last year's new "I Know What You Did Last Summer" film arrived slightly quicker (91 days after hitting the big screen). The maligned Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell romance "A Big Bold Beautiful Journey" is also expected to release on Netflix this Saturday (Jan. 17), which would be 121 days after its September release.
Of course, all of this comes with the caveat that neither Sony nor Netflix has confirmed a "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple" streaming date, so there's every chance the movie drops later down the line. As soon as something more official comes along, we'll be sure to share it here.

When he’s not watching the next must-see movie or show, he’s probably still in front of a screen playing massive RPGs, reading, spending a fortune on TCGs, or watching the NFL.
