5 best new action movies and TV shows in June 2026 — including 'Supergirl' and 'House of the Dragon' season 3
A round-up of action-packed releases coming in June
If you love action movies and TV shows, I've scoured the release calendars of all the best streaming services and taken a look at what's coming to movie theaters in the near future, and put together a watchlist just for you.
Whether you're after big-screen thrills, a revenge story or something a little more fantastical, I've got you covered. Below, I've assembled a quick round-up of five new shows and movies that action fans should have on their radar, including a brutal martial arts movie, the return of "Game of Thrones" action, and more. Here are the five action releases at the top of my list and how to watch them.
'The Legend of Vox Machina' season 4
This adult animated fantasy series, inspired by the tabletop Dungeons & Dragons adventures of Critical Role's party of voice actors, is back to retell another chapter of their quest.
Season 4 picks up a year after the Chroma Conclave arc. Their adventuring party has separated, on the hunt for love, family, and purpose. However, when a long-slumbering evil awakens to threaten the realm, the members of Vox Machina must reunite to take on an epic new foe.

'Masters of the Universe'
Travis Knight is reviving the legendary sci-fi/action-fantasy franchise in a brand-new live-action movie that's bringing He-Man and the rest of the Masters of the Universe back to the big screen.
In this new adventure, Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) has been separated from his home planet for well over a decade. When he tracks down the Sword of Power, Prince Adam is led back to Eternia, but finds the evil Skeletor (Jared Leto) ruling the realm. Naturally, it's up to Adam and his trusted allies — Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan/Man-at-Arms (Idris Elba) — to save the day, and that means the Prince has to embrace his true destiny as He-Man once more.

'The Furious'
Kenji Tanigaki's "The Furious" is slated for release in mid-June, and it's already impressed adrenaline junkies: the film's sitting at a 100$ on Rotten Tomatoes, with reviewers heaping praise on the brutal fight scenes.
The film centers on Wang Wei (Xie Miao), who is out for revenge. After his daughter is kidnapped by a criminal network, and he can't get the corrupt police force to help, Wei sets out to find his daughter himself. His only ally is Navin (Joe Taslim), a journalist whose wife has mysteriously disappeared. Together, this unlikely pairing seeks their vengeance, ruthlessly fighting back against the kidnappers in what Lionsgate has called an "explosive martial arts showdown."

'House of the Dragon' season 3
The latest chapter of "House of the Dragon" is arriving later this month, and everything we've seen of season 3 suggests that the brutal conflict between the two factions of House Targaryen is truly heating up.
The season ended with armies mobilizing for war across Westeros, and now we're getting glimpses at devastated battlefields. Expect carnage right from the get-go: the new season's due to open with "The Battle of the Gullet," and showrunner Ryan Condal (via Variety) said the series opener is “arguably the craziest episode of television ever made.”

'Supergirl'
Finally, I've decided to round out this list with Craig Gillespie's "Supergirl," the second big-screen watch from the newly-booted DCU (here's a full rundown of every upcoming DCU movie and show, if you need an update).
After a brief cameo at the end of 2025's "Superman," Supergirl/Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock) is taking center stage for this sci-fi/superhero trip that seemingly sees her going full "John Wick," judging by the trailer. After an unexpected and ruthless villain strikes a little too close to home (and harms Krypto?!), Kara joins up with an unlikely ally and embarks on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice.

If it’s in the theaters or available to stream somewhere, he’s probably watched it… especially if it has a dragon in it. Before joining the team, he was a Staff Writer at What To Watch where he wrote about a broad range of shows that stretched from "Doctor Who" and "The Witcher" to "Bridgerton" and "Love Island". When he’s not watching the next must-see movie or show, he’s probably still in front of a screen playing massive RPGs, reading, spending a fortune on TCGs, or watching the NFL.
