7. Conclusion: Huge Potential

In terms of MP3 playback performance, we were satisfied with both of these two music specialists, and they are comfortably light enough to accompany you practically everywhere.

The workmanship of both devices is of superb quality, too, making them worthy competitors to far more expensive models from Sony and the like (except perhaps for models that use metallic cases). Otherwise both players are impressive, thanks to their modern OLED display, the buttons' acceptable keypress feel, and largely intuitive operation.

One drawback in terms of long term viability is that while the colorful front cover of Mega Player 522 is changeable, the same cannot be said of either model's battery. Even though we're talking about a pretty decent Lithium-ion cell, no more than a few years of life can be squeezed from one.

We were extremely impressed with the way the Bluetooth module worked in the Mega Player 522; our only complaint is that the volume in the right ear was clearly too low even when set to maximum. We hope this was just a bug in our test unit. You really can't beat the convenience of being able to talk on the phone using your MP3 player with headset.
