6. It's Not Just Tom's and Gear

It turns out Apple doesn't supply review products to most of the press. Along these lines, the company has made very few iPhones available to the fifth estate. So, press people all over the US are looking for ways to acquire their own iPhones. Heck, when the phone goes on sale this Friday, Apple just might make more off the I-gotta-have-one-to-write-about-it press than legitimate customers.

Ben Meyer, Max Wilson, Victor Chen and I have been plotting a strategy too. As I mentioned earlier, I plan to go to an AT&T store, start waiting in line early Friday morning and be one of the first to snag an iPhone when they become available at 6 PM Los Angeles time.

Knowing that many plan to do the same, I chose to wait at an AT&T store in a less up-scale neighborhood, expecting that such a neighborhood, unlike Beverly Hills, would have few with the $500 or more dollars to shell out for the Apple's new icon of the 21st Century.

You can be sure we won't be at the Apple store on New York City's upscale 5th Avenue

Of course, Apple and AT&T might allocate only a few phones to stores like this. That's why Ben and Max are planning to scope out an Apple store somewhere in West Los Angeles.

Our plans keep changing with the latest online gossip. So, stay with us as we play dodge ball with rumor and fact in the Great iPhone Caper.
